LD was pretty solid on wanting her in the shuffled runoff, even if it was for seemingly arbitrary reasons. If he were inspector though with her name, he would have had to go out on limb to create reasons to throw her in the ring though because she hasn't been raising any flags. That is such a weak argument, I know, but it's the best I have at the moment.
How about we have a runoff with Krissy, Bogart, and Odysseus? Better odds of finding a Mafia in those three than among me/Bacon/Jimmy.
I think AT LEAST 2 of the 3 names he mentioned has to be in the next runoff. I think Bogart is an easy choice since LD personally moved his vote off of bacon and onto Bogart. Last round I didn't get much of a read off of Ody or Krissy so I'm going to go back and read the game and see what I can gather.
As for my vote, I'll go with ody since Bogart and Krissy already have a vote on them.
You're just too young to grasp how stylin' I really was. All the boys wanted to do me when I was 5. Actually the girls did too. My haircut was confusing.

Tejas > Ody
I like this line of reasoning. I think a Bogart, Krissy, Bacon runoff would work nicely.
I don't know why but I;'m having a really hard time coherently describing my thoughts so bear with me.
If LD was inspector I dont think he would just throw his given name out there. Krissy and Bogart he both voted for, and suggested throwing in the run off. Bacon he voted for, Ody he suggested. I think there is a good chance he "accidentaly" hit on one of these while completely not mentioning his actually given name. I'm not sure I see LD just tossing out some random names as if he accidentally hit he would be eligibale for a whack, although him doing so would give us something good to work with, he would have to be fairly certtain the others were townies. Basically out of the group Ld focused on I like Bogart the best as LD voted for in the end. I think we should look into people Ld didnt mention as well. So for now Hakuna >> Tejas
Myinternet connection sucks right now so im having a hard time going back and getting my exact quotes and what not so ill be back in bit with more . I'm by no means writting off Jimmy as a townie so I think that should be a looking point as well.
LD was an interesting whack. He did point fingers in a few different directions before he was offed, so it's entirely possible he struck a nerve with someone. I'm also not entirely ruling out the possibility of a red herring - however, he seemed to be playing a bit differently to his usual style. In my experience, LD is generally a pretty firebrand player, and he was acting fairly reserved this game, so it would seem to make some sense for the mafia to whack someone acting unusually. He's played enough times to know that the inspector needs to keep his head low; ironically, it may have been exactly that which drew attention to him.
If he was the inspector, it's entirely possible he avoided voting for his given name, but accidentally hit on something with one of his votes. Or he could have just been a rando whack to throw us all off the trail. I'm going to go back and read over everything he said to get a better sense of where he was coming from. I'll have to mull this one over for a bit before making my decision.
I am heading off to East Bumblequack from tomorrow morning (my time) until the 2nd - I'll be quite busy and the Internet can be super spotty, but I'll try to check in at least a couple more times before the year is out.
I had all types of warning bells go off reading that post. Mafia never plant the red herring first whack. Bunch of other reasons but too drunk and too incoherent to type now. Will explain more in the am. Wanted to get this out there though.

never? Oh, how quickly we do forget, Commissioner.
Sometimes mafia go for a red herring in the first round, and sometimes they go for a power play. Depends on how much of a threat they think someone poses. That's been the case in my experience, anyway. I eagerly await tomorrow's more sober explanation.

Never is a bad word. I have a massive headache right now, since I was out with a few of your countrymen drinking a mix of American and Aussie wine last night. The only thing I can say is that they are in a lot worse shape than I am right now. Other than that, don't play mafia while drunk.
Leaving my vote where it is until the throbbing headache goes away and I am only seeing 1 screen.
Just sloppy play on my part. I'd remembered seeing something Tejas said or did Day 1, but we were already in runoff and I didnt think it was an appropriate time to bring it up I made a mentally note to revist it and then lost said mental note, and now I can't for the life of me figure it out and am not even certain it was him now. Maybe I'll remember it, maybe I won't.
So after going back and looking LD voted for Krissy, Bacon, and Bogart and then suggested myself, Bogart, and Krissy for a runoff. I'm not sure, but I kinda doubt LD would vote first for his given name if he was inspector, so I doubt it's Krissy. That leaves myself, Bacon, and Bogart. Of those, only Bogart made it to the runoff last time, so if maybe that threatened mafia enough to suspect him and whack him. Not the best reasoning, but it's what I'm currently working with.

I do wish I could like this post - not just because you were with Aussies, but because Inforoo desperately needs more appreciators of vino (although maybe you aren't appreciating it quite as much today).
However, I gave it a night to mull it over and re-read the thread, and this still isn't sitting well with me. Your most recent post kind of dodged my question - even though from what I've seen in previous games, you usually tend to be pretty rational and straightforward. So, until someone raises my suspicions further, I think your name should be thrown in the hat too.

Sleepy >>> Viking
You never really asked a question, only for an explanation, which I promised when the violent uprising of pain receptors in my brain had been put down. It is not a dodge if I tell you I intend to explain. Also, the thread you quoted was the 19 person invitational which had very different rules and length than this game. You have a detective in addition to inspector, and there were 5 mafia members. Plus, there were 9 nights. You could afford a red herring, where as in this game, there are 5 rounds, and the inspector usually will come out earlier in the game, especially if they have 2 names. Having 2 mafia members really helps the town, and therefore, it would be pretty foolish for the mafia to NOT hunt the inspector.
If the mafia do not have a good guess, they eliminate the more experienced players / biggest threat. LD is very experienced but as a townie, his threat is reduced because of his history or faking inspector as a townie. He is difficult for a townie to sort out, which casts suspicion on him later in the game, and killing him off actually makes the field a lot clearer. This is actually a credit to how good LD is, but it would be a mistake to view his whack as a good choice for a red herring.

You say he struck a nerve and then raise the possibility of a red herring. I would say it is much more likely he struck a nerve.
While I agree with the fact he is a firebrand, (there are quite a few in this game), the second issue I had with your post is to say he was reserved this game. I actually almost posted in Day 1 that LD was a lot more verbose and involved in this game than normal. He was doing the opposite of keeping his head low. Most day 1s, LD does not post much and just tries to survive and avoid suspicion. So my issue with your post is that you have completely characterized how he plays.
The final issue I had was that you just discussed LD and not any of the names he brought up. Not a big issue, but it raised a nerve that night because it helps you to avoid taking any sides and discussing potential mafia members if you are mafia. Less of an issue in sober reflection.
So now, my question for you is what was not sitting well with what I posted and what am I dodging?
So this silence is really starting to concern me. I'm guilty myself and have kinds just been waiting for some people to make moves so I'm kinda worried everyone else is thinking the same thing. So... Hakuna >> Bogart
Before y'all jump on my for the big stack, I get it. If everybody is just gonna throw a vote on a single person and the tally is 1,1,1,1,1,1 we aren't gonna get anywhere. I'm not condemning Bogart, while I think the LD whack does fall to him the most, I'm not 100% sold, I just want to see what direction this leads us in.
I've been waiting on Sleepy to wake up and respond for 2 days now, but it is pretty disconcerting with the silence right now. IMO, it reenforces that jimmyroo may have been mafia, because otherwise, the mafia would be at a 3/6 advantage and could start taking greater control of the action. I would encourage the rest of the town to wake up and stop waiting to discuss who and what at this point, since I think we have a good shot at taking this one.
I wrote this out a couple of days ago, was waiting on sleepy to make a vote. Since he voted for Viking I decided to post. Fellow townies, I have been trying to make my mind up about this decision for the past couple of days. On one hand I would love to keep guessing and give you guys some more names, but on the other hand the town hasn’t won a game in a while due to the fact the inspectors have been killed off prior to coming out. I know some of you will think this is a mistake, but last time I was in this position I waited and we got nothing from it. I am the inspector and sleepy was my given name. After the last round I asked about Viking, because he was one of the people stacking on jimmy (who was sleepy’s first vote). Viking was indeed a townie. I got the feeling that jimmy & LD both were townies after we were in the runoff, but by that point it was too late to do anything about it. I needed to survive to tell you this and to get at least one guess in.
It frustrates me that people always ask about me, but I guess I will take it as both a compliment and a criticism.
Bogart, why come out now? I know you are stacked on right now, but why not wait until the runoff? Also, why vote for LD in day 1? What was your original thinking there?
Not saying I don't believe you, because I would like to, but I never trust inspector claims right away.
I also disagree with you on Jimmy. Even last round and especially after Sleepy's last post, I thought he was the opposite to Jimmy and trying to distance. Could be wrong on Jimmy if you are the inspector, but the vote linkages are there too.
I don't know whether to believe this or think Mafia is faking inspector now that Bogart already has 3 votes. I'm not sure I ever really thought Viking was mafia, though. Ugh.

I will answer in more detail after lunch but I figured I was headed to the run off and didn't want to seem like I was trying to save my skin in the runoff (I realize I have three votes now).
Well okay then. I'm going to give bogart the benefit of the doubt and move my vote. I at least don't want to contribute to voting off the inspector if he's truthful.
krissy>>>sleepy
Want to hear what sleepy has to say about the accusation, too.
The only thing that makes me doubt whether Bogart truly is inspector or not is why he pulled LD back in the runoff and not change his vote over to sleepy when the opportunity was given (jimmy voting for him). Beyond that, I can see where he is coming from coming out day 1, especially with the townie track record as of late. I also don't think this counts Jimmy out as mafia, because the back and forth between him and sleepy wasn't tilted as strong opposition. Could have been distancing, or it could have been just poking around for reactions by returning a vote.

Yeah, I get that. At the time you were leading the charge against jimmy, who sleepy had voted for. Was initially going to ask about ody but I didn't want his vote on me to cloud my judgment.
Bogart, why come out now? I know you are stacked on right now, but why not wait until the runoff?
I kinda answered this already but I wanted to come out when sleepy made a vote. It just turned out the vote was for the one person I knew was a townie so the benefit of waiting wasn't very much. Last time I was inspector I was in the same situation other than I didn't have any heat on me and I didn't come out. Guess who got whacked in Night 2? Me. I couldn't let that happen again.
Also, why vote for LD in day 1? What was your original thinking there?
I voted for LD because ella had a vote and switched off of him, just like I said in round one. After the runoff had started I got the feeling he was a townie, but the other person besides me was jimmy and I didn't want to vote along with my given mafia name. This could have been a mistake but at the time I felt it was the right thing to do. Turns out it didn't matter anyways.
Not saying I don't believe you, because I would like to, but I never trust inspector claims right away.
This too I get. Seeing how the last couple of games I have played have gone I wanted to come out early. Last time I was inspector I said either 2 mafia names or the 3rd night. I was killed night 2, so I change my philosophy. Not saying I will do this in the future (I just want a town win dammit), but for this round it was the choice I made.
I also disagree with you on Jimmy. Even last round and especially after Sleepy's last post, I thought he was the opposite to Jimmy and trying to distance. Could be wrong on Jimmy if you are the inspector, but the vote linkages are there too.
I just don't see a mafia member voting off another mafia member.

Trust me this was on my mind as well. The simple answer would be I wanted to not get whacked so I could get one more guess in. Voting for sleepy would have brought me unwanted attention (this is subjective of course).
