Okay so Roo 2014 is gonna be my first music fest and I want to be prepared for ANYTHING. Essential items to pack, avoiding traffic on the way up there (from Mississippi gulf coast) , etc. Basically anything you can think of for a newb. Thanks in advance for all your help

I'll tell you what literally everyone here will tell you there is a mass amount of info on here already just poke around "That Tent" if you have specifics after looking around make another post !
11/2/19: Tool 5/17/19: Blues Traveler 5/9/19: Tool 11/10/18: Tenacious D 9/20/18: White Denim 7/23/18: Radiohead 6/4/18: Jack White 5/20/18: Tool 5/18/18: A Perfect Circle 5/18/18: Alice in Chains 5/6/18: Blind Melon
avoiding traffic on the way up there (from Mississippi gulf coast)
Use I-10 to I-65 in Mobile. Follow it to Birmingham and merge onto I-59 which will bring you to Chattanooga. Merge onto I-24 which will bring you into Manchester.
Coming from this direction you can use exit 114 to pick up groceries and last minute supplies from Wal Mart (and perhaps meet up with some fellow Inforoo'ers) then proceed north to exit 111 for the Farm. Just watch traffic signs for exits routing people to Bonnaroo on I-24 and you'll get there.

Whenver those links get posted ( I'm on a phone as well which makes it difficult to hyperlink... and I am super lazy), they are a vast trove of information. If I hadn't lurked these boards before my first time and read through a ton of old posts, I would have been unnecessarily uncomfortable - bordering on miserable, seen fewer shows, tried fewer new-to-me acts, and the list goes on. Instead, I had an amazing time and haven't stopped thinking about the next one.

mimi228 Are you car camping or RV, or are you just gonna dive right in and go hard core to tent only? There's LOTS of threads on how to survive roo on here. My first Roo was 2010 and inforoo probably saved my life!
1 immediate piece of advice bring half as much food as you think you're gonna use, because even then you're still not going to use it all. Also bring twice as much water and gatoraid (or similar electrolyte replenishing drink) then you think you'll possibly need.

Spend the next six months voraciously reading tips on this forum. The threads here contain a wealth of information that will arm you with the facts necessary to have an incredible experience in Manchester. Its great that you are starting the search for info now, gives you plenty of time to learn and accumulate the stuff you will need.
I use google to search for specific things (i.e., I'd google "inforoo tent suggestions"), and beyond specifics i've spent an insane amount of time just browsing through the threads picking up general knowledge.
The broadest and most general advice I can give beyond that is drink plenty of water and don't get so wasted you miss music, hurt yourself, or worse.

Welcome to Inforoo!
I'm definitely gonna have a tent for me and a friend. I don't think i could survive in that little two door!

Car camping is camping in a tent next to your car. You could be close, you could be in the furthest possible corner. Tent Only is a small section right outside the front arch and you have to hike all your stuff up there, but you're guaranteed to be close. Just to let you know you wouldn't have to spend all weekend sleeping in the car.

Last year was my first roo, it was amazing. Learned a few things that would have made it more comfortable.
Bring a good blanket I had no idea it would get that cold at night in June. Prolly just felt cold cause it was so hot during the day. Either way I wore jeans one night.
Buy a camelbak, when your in a tight crowd it's a hassle having to take it off an on to get to water bottles.
Know your not gonna see all the shows you want, its extremely exhausting. Research the lineup good when it comes out.
Bring to much water you DON'T wanna have to drink the sulfur water its healthy but doesn't taste to good.
But no matter how bad things go your gonna have the time of your life.

you'll probably get lost and that will end up being the best part. Just wait you'll have a thousand worries then the moment you get there set up and have a beer you'll be like what the quack was i ever worried about and you will know you are right where your suppose to be doing exactly what your suppose to do. Roo is the greatest place in the world 2 years ago was my first time and i read probably every post on the board and was ready but be warned if you follow everyones suggestions you will spend about twice as much money as you should and you will be so over stocked you'll be like what the hell am i meant to do with all of this. My lessons: only bring food for breakfast and a snack you won't need to eat dinner at camp you can get an awesome meal for 10 bucks and its amazing better than anything your going to make at camp bring more beer than you need bring a beer pong table bring a flag bring a good cooler you will save money sunscreen water and alot of extra money for beer inside
also try to not get to caught up in alll the drinking and no no words and be there for the music and the fun kind of a bummer when you have pictures of events you don't even remmeber
and remmeber if you ever face an awkward situation it can most easily be diffused by shouting BONNNAROOOOO
also talk to everyone they wanna talk to you i was more social at roo than i was my entire life preceding roo
also friday around 3 there was no line what so ever to get in
ps beer pong table best way to drink and make friends
