The Kinks could be getting back together in 2014.
Though talk of a reformed Kinks seems to hit the headlines every few years, frontman Ray Davies has given a clear indicator that his band’s many patient fans could soon get their reward. This year, the Kinks hits the half-century milestone. And Davies has told British music magazine Uncut that a reunion is “as close as it’s ever been to happening.”
The three surviving members of the original lineup — the Ray and Dave Davies and drummer Mick Avory (bassist Pete Quaife died in 2010) — opened-up for the music title.
Dave Davies explains that he’d caught up with his brother last summer in a London pub, where they chatted about the possibility of reforming the band for their 50th anniversary.
I really hope this happens and if it does, any chance of Bonnaroo getting them? Thoughts?

I would really like to see this happen as well. I've always felt they were the most under appreciated British invasion band of the '60's. The four times I saw them in the 80's were amazing.
I think I agree with kwisatz. MOST people, not just Bonnaroo attendees only know "Lola," and half of those who know the song don't know who sang it. And, half of those don't realize she is a man. 27% misspell C-O-L-A.
Most of my stats are made up (but that last one is real).
The Kinks would be interesting. I don't see a lot of people buying tickets just for The Kinks, but I could see them drawing a good crowd from the assembled masses.
This board does not rep. the averaeg person at the festival. We are the hardcore types.
I agree with that - however, The Kinks are not a small name. The name may not draw quite the immediate reaction of some other classic rock legends, but I think even casual music fans would recognise Lola, You Really Got Me, Waterloo Sunset, Shangri-la, Rainy Day in June, Father Christmas, Sunny Afternoon, Well Respected Man, etc. They would be a phenomenal pre-headliner IMO.
The Beach Boys got the crowd dancing like crazy in 2012. I think The Kinks would be similarly well-received.
They'd fit nicely in the Beach Boys/Robert Plant Sunday late afternoon spot.
i agree. they would be an ideal lead in for the Sunday headliner vs. a Saturday night slot on the Which Stage like Buffalo Springfield a couple of years ago between the Black Keys & Eminem sets on What.

I meant at Roo not on this board. I would expect just about everyone on this board to be familiar with the Kinks like them or not.
My made up statistic would be about a third at Roo would know them beyond Lola. But I'm pretty sure they would win over just about everybody who hits up their set. I saw the Kinks back in the mid seventies and saw Ray Davies solo a couple of years ago. There are very few front men as engaging as Ray Davies.
