Im seriously considering this over Bonnaroo this year. Smaller festival with some great acts. No massive crowds, two stages, and there should be little to no conflicts. Theres a lot I already really like on the lineup and a lot more that I dont know of yet. I just discovered Jacco Gardner and love it. He is listed #30 so im sure a lot of great stuff I dont know yet. Im starting to check out more on the lineup now.
Can anyone comment on bathroom/shower situation from last year?
No outside alcohol in camping? Does that mean $10 beers all weekend?

Is it pretty laid back there or are they strict?
They had free showers with hot water in the campground area right in front of the festival entrance and portos were well maintained
There was alcohol in the campgrounds last year. I don't know if this is some new rule.
It's laid back for the most part. On the final night security came and broke up a drum circle, guitar pull, sing-a-long at around 4 in the morning. They also don't want you swimming in the creek. The reason they gave was the water moccasins.

Tobacco has announced that his touring band will consist of some core members of BMSR. Maybe they will throw a few BMSR songs into the set, or perhaps a full set at one of the Pre-Fest parties. The second one is probably a pretty big stretch, but you never know.
Just sent in my paperwork to request these dates off from work. Once I get approval, tickets here I come!
shybox Thanks for the heads up on Zombie Zombie! Listening to them for the first time and really liking what I'm hearing. There's soooo much on this lineup I've never heard, can't wait to start the discovery phase

And reading through their camping info, it does say, "No outside alcohol". I wonder if this is a new rule, or it was there last year but they just didn't enforce it. I'm not a big drinker, so doesn't bother me much, but I could see how that would be a pretty big downer for a lot of people.
On a plus, I noticed this:
CAMPING AMENITIES INCLUDE: - a central shaded area with places to chill, hammocks, charging stations and more
- plentiful restrooms and showers available per camper, including AC’d “comfort stations”
- a performance space in the central area with guest performances and other events
- an expanded general store and wider food and drink options in the camping area
- dedicated staff to help ensure a safe and fun camping experience
In particular, the shaded area with hammocks and the performance space in the campgrounds sounds really cool.
I'm seriously considering this thing. What time does it usually start on Friday and when does it usually end on Sunday?
Also, how many ppl typically attend?
The main festival starts in the early afternoon on Friday, but there are two Pre-Fest gigs on Thursday in downtown Austin - Red 7 and The Mohawk - that begin in the early evening and are included in the ticket price. I think it ended around midnight or 1am last year. Perhaps a little bit later. Last year was the first time at The Ranch, and I thought I read that there were around 4000 people - some more, some less each day. I wouldn't be surprised if it increased in size this year. Hope that helps.
Still considering this fest. If I do go, it'll prob be decided after my Coachella trip. For anybody who went last year, what are the actual fest hours?

This may not be exact, but pretty close.
Friday: 2pm to 2am Saturday: 1pm to 2am Sunday: 2pm to 2am
Schedule's out. Thankfully Avey Tare and Acid Mothers Temple don't conflict on Saturday, should be able to see both with missing just the end of AMT. Saturday is stacked for me.
Still up in the air on this fest, can't get the time committed off from work...it's still possible though. Worst case scenario, I drive up for the night and hit Saturday night, maybe Sunday too if I'm not too dead on my feet. I have to work 12 hour shifts with a two hour drive to Austin, but I can't say no to Avey Tare and Panda Bear!
Just got off the phone with my field supervisor and it looks like Pysch Fest is a go for me!
Apparently work is slow for the company right now, and they wanted to switch out my nightshift for someone who hadn't worked in a bit. Told him I'd love to be switched out so I'm off for the weekend. Looks like he's sending down my relief tomorrow!
I had resolved myself to being a walking zombie, working 12 hour shifts each day and driving 2 hours each way to see Avey Tare and Acid Mothers Temple on Saturday, and Panda Bear on Sunday.
This is the best news I've had since yesterday when I bought my 'roo ticket!

I am happy for you and want to jealousy murder you all at the same time.
Roger Sellers > Graveyard > White Hills > The Black Angels (first half hour) > Liars (whole set)
Saturday
Mark McGuire > Yamantaka Sonic Titan > Zombie Zombie > Moon Duo > Bombino > Mono > Unknown Mortal Orchestra > Acid Mothers Temple > Avey Tare's Slasher Flicks > Of Montreal
Sunday
? > Sleepy Sun > Panda Bear > Tobacco
Italicized sets are ones I absolutely will not be missing. Everything else can change depending on where my ear brings me.
Saturday is without a doubt my stacked day. Don't know most of the bands on Sunday, anyone care to chime in with some of the sets I shouldn't miss? That goes for pretty much any day as long as it doesn't conflict with an italicized set.
Haven't seen Acid Mothers Temple in probably 3 years, used to see them every spring when they'd tour the US. Seems like they've been a lock for APF for the past few years. Which is fine with me, AMT brings the psychedelic onslaught to you with blisteringly loud guitar freakouts
And a solo Panda Bear and Avey Tare Slasher Flick set is too good to be true for this Animal Collective whore.
Help me fill out my schedule psychonauts, I need you!
So is anyone else from Inforoo planning on going? I talked to jigawig and he said he'll most likely be there Saturday and Sunday.
The weather will be absolutely perfect. We had a mild cool front blow in the other day. For this weekend, near zero humidity with highs in the mid 80's and lows in the upper 50's. Beautiful
Just about to pull my tent and canopy out and start packing. Can't wait!
Man I wish. This festival is on my dream list for next year; never been to Austin and the lineups for these things are incredible. Gotta let me know how this goes!
Dusty as fuck, but been a great time so far. Mark McGuire was great, and Zombie Zombie and Bombino just killed it. Just saw Acid Mothers Temple lug their merch across the venue. Almost time for the cosmic onslaught of Acid Mothers amd then Avey Tare! I'll be front row for Avey Tare, going to love the rest of tonight!
Wow, Avey Tare did not disappoint! I have a new appreciation for the drummer, he killed it. Heard Kawabata from Acid Mothers set his guitar on fire to end the set. Had to leave early for Avey Tare. Fingers crossed Avey wonders onstage for Panda Bears set tonight!
