That is a great lineup. Question though, are headliner sets unopposed?
To further answer, if you are worried about top of the card conflicts, don't. The two main stages are right next to each other. One act ends and another starts almost immediately on the other. It's got its pros and cons, i actually rarely ventured off from the main stage last year. While the shows I saw were awesome, not being forced to move really makes you miss a good deal of the mid card and can make it feel more like just a concert than a festival.
Thanks for the clarification. I'd honestly rather miss the headliners and see those mid cards since I'll be able to catch everyone at Govball and Roo and then see acts like The Replacements and Lorde at Osheaga.
The adds were big last year, Beck, Frank Ocean, a few others, so this prob isn't just a cheap suprise adds plug.
This is true. 100 acts on this poster, 110 total last year. I hope they do something big with the extra $15 from GA. Also new tier VIP at $1000, big money for evenko, and like last year, no presale.
Doubt it would be daft punk...unless that conspiracy theory holds true. Or osheaga goes highlander with the headliners on the new poster, drops the current headliners down as there can be only one: daft punk.
Someone enlighten me with respect to acts we can expect to see leading into the headliner but on the opposite stage.
It is as simple as the 3rd line into 2nd into 1st going back and forth between the 2 stages?
If I had to guess right now id say it will look something like J. Cole --- Foster --- Outkast Nick Cave --- The Replacements --- Jack White Modest Mouse --- Lorde --- Arctic Monkeys

Is 'EDM' at another stage altogether? Just thinking Skrillex would be on the main stages.

He very well could, I just can't recall an EDM act on the main stage. Obviously he is booke high enough, I kind of thought Pretty Lights was booked higher last year but I looked and they were 14th. Basically until a precedent is set I tend to go by what has been done in the past. If anyone is gonna break the trend it's gonna be Skrilly.
Missed answering, yeah there is a dedicated EDM stage.

Some friends and I are thinking about making the trip up this year! Any advice for first timers? Is it good to stay in Montreal or are there some areas outside that might be cheaper/more beautiful? Just looking for insight from some Osheaga vets

I think there is some pretty good info in the thread from last year. i can't speak directly about staying outside the city, but personally I dont think it wouldbe worth the hassel. You have to pretty much take the subway to the festival and it can be a pain and time consuming so any additional commute time could get pretty frustrating. 2 years ago we thought the official hotel looked so cool that lasst year we booked it last year and it was really scaled down and really nothing special, wont be doing it again this year nd can't really recommend it. Look into staying at McGill university. They rent out there dorms as hotels in the summer(and they are basically hotel rooms used as dorms, not the other way around), they arent "cheap" by any means but probably one of your cheaper options unless you can find a good deal. This year I will probably leave it to chance with a hotwire name your price deal or something like that.
You can actually drive right in and park outside the gates of the festival. I got a hotel by the airport for $50/night and the drive took about 20 minutes each way. I would only recommend this if you're planning on going early and staying late, though. I heard traffic was bad at more peak times, but I didn't experience any of it.
I mentioned this in last years thread as well, try Solin Hall. It's a McGill residence (university) that is apartment style so they have kitchens it you want to cook meals to save money. It is also 2 min walk to the metro.

Bought my ticket. Love the line up this year. Outkast, Jack White, Modest Mouse, The Replacements, Nick Cave, Band of Horses, Cut Copy, !!! and like 20 more.

So I've never been to Montreal. Is it muggy in August? I mean I live in New Hampshire and can get pretty nasty. It says Solin Hall has no A/C. Is that a big problem?

Yes it can be very warm/muggy here in August. I stayed there years ago before I moved to Montreal in the summer and do not remember the no A/C thing being a problem.
i am strongly considering going to Osheaga and iam doing some hotel browsing now and i wanted to see if anyone could reccomend an area to look for one? Priceline is showing me most in the Mont Royal area which looks to be about a 10 min drive to the fest. if thats the best bet for the area to look how does the shuttle system work and how much does it cost?

If you stay downtown, you can just hop on the subway. It takes you directly to the fest, plus you are in a great area for nighttime fun as the fest shuts down at 11
Mount Royal is great too, and could be considered an equally as good night life spot. There is a subway that runs down Berri as well, that will take you to the fest.
