I'm torn between this and Lollapalooza. Lollapalooza usually announces first and if they put out a solid lineup I'll pick a three day pass up. Anything less than tremendous means I'll go to Osheaga. The two festivals usually share a lot in common in terms of artists.
Now if you'll excuse me, I'm going to go on an overnight drunk, and in 10 days I'm going to set out to find the shark that ate my friend and destroy it. Anyone who wants to tag along is more than welcome.
I'm planning for Lolla but it's so costly.. So like davidbyrnesbutler said, if that lineup is anything less than tremendous, I will be putting the money I am saving for that towards this.

There's a lot of Pearl Jam, Metallica and Justin Timberlake rumours for Lolla. Since 1-2 of the headliners are shared, i'd be thrilled with PJ or Metallica. unfortunately I really don't see a heavy rock band in the Oshie lineup. They've never ever gone that way before. Smashing Pumpkins being the line I guess

Osheaga definitely announced first last year.
Indeed they did. And then Lolla came out with the same lineup but adding The Killers, QOTSA, NIN, National, Postal Service. Last years lineup was too good.

How about NIN? Like Metallica, a little heavier than what Osheaga usually puts on the bill but their touring ends in late June. Trent said in a recent interview that they're booked until the end of the summer. So it's possible!

Definitely looking forward to this announcement, which according to instagram will be on Feb 6th. Adding Beck last year was awesome. Be great if they could get either NIN, QOTSA and/or Pearl Jam.

Thanks for the info! I guess Osheaga has the tougher job of having a great lineup. I'm going to either Lolla or Osheaga, but Osheaga would be ridiculously less expensive even though I have to get a passport.

I think that's an outdoor event they're holding on Feb. 6th

My bad. I guess yr right. The last two years, they announced the lineup in March. I guess doing it that early would be too much of a gap between that and Lollapalooza (which usually announces it lineup in early/mid April).

After Squamish announced their lineup earlier this week, I think that gives us a preview of what the undercard will look like maybe. Lineup: Mounties, Topless, Slam Dunk, Rykka, heRobust, Cyril Hahn, Ryan Hemsworth, Good for Grapes, We Are The City, Walk Off the Earth, Kevin Drew, Head of the Herd, Aidan Knight, Whitehorse, Zerbin, Cityreal, The Zolas, Danny Brown, Austra, Gramatik, Lord Huron, The Head and the Heart, Foster The People, Hollerado, Felix Cartal, Sam Roberts Band, Bruno Mars, Broken Bells, Mayer Hawthorne, Black Joe Lewis, Lykke LI, Boys Noize, Serena Ryder, Tokyo Police Club, Arctic Monkeys, Arcade Fire, Atmosphere, The Roots, Thievery Corporation and Eminem
With the exception of Arcade Fire, Bruno Mars and maybe Eminem (was there a few years ago) I think that's what we're looking at. Which is pretty great. Broken Bells, FTP and the Roots would be pretty cool indeed!
Has the lineup been similar to Squamish in the past? I guess I just don't get how a fest 3000 miles away a week later makes anything likely. If anything I'd say that makes all these people less likely. Just my opinion and I could be totally off, but it seems like we rule people out for being in California before or after roo.
With the announcement that Outkast is playing OVOFest, I'd say it's time to elevate them from "likely/logical" Osheaga headliners to 100% locked down, no way they ain't headlining.

Jagwar Ma just added a NYC area show on July 30th. I wouldn't be surprised if they pop up at Osh. I think they would fit in perfect with this festivals vibe!

Cole, Four Tet, Arctic Monkeys, Nick Cave, Bro Safari, Haim, Danny Brown, Volcano Choir, Old Crow Medicine Show, Citizen Cope, Duke Dumont, Reignwolf, SBTRKT, AFI, Jon Hopkins, Outkast, Chromeo, Walk the Moon, Crosses, Austra, the Kooks, Pusha T, Flume, Beaches, Lykke Li, !!!, Tourist, Jagwar Ma, Ghost
