I am thinking of purchasing this tent along with an ez pop up canopy. www.aliexpress.com/item/Roof-tent-car-awning-tent-luxury-1-9/1718239366.html I am buying everything we will need from a Chinese based wholesale company. It saves quite a bit of money if you do it right (choose items with free shipping). Do you think this tent would be a good idea

That is one of the more bizarre tents I have seen - so you sleep on the roof of your car? Would that not dent the roof what with the flimsy metal they use in cars nowadays? Is there a rigid platform that rests on a rooftop luggage rack?
Just curious, not trying to pee on your tent choice; if you get it, I would love a tour of it at the farm this year.

I don't think that is a good idea. You'll only have about 2-3 feet between you and the next car. It looks like they have one that sticks off the back of the car instead of the side. That would be more feasible, but I personally wouldn't want to put my trust in a wholesale Chinese company for something that needs quite a bit of structure.

This is how it would work:
It would be on top of a luggage rack on my ford explorer. It's 11 lbs, then with the two of us it would be about 250lbs, but it's evenly distributed on the rack. I appreciate all the advice I've found on here. This summer will be my first year and I haven't been to music concerts either. I was thinking of using this tent because I'll be able to see it from far away, I'll put a balloon or a glow stick on it. Also if it rains, we won't track mud in.

I have never seen a two level tent before - great find. MacRoober has a good point about the available space; they try and pack the cars in pretty tight - pretty much just enough room to open car doors without hitting the vehicle next to you. The one that looked like it went off the back would work better if this is the way your go.

I was worried about that with space. I was wanting to be able to open the back to access coolers and supplies. I'll have to get one that goes off the back or figure out if you can turn them so you can access from a different side.

Worst case, you go with a regular tent. Those and EZ ups are what most people go with. If you're concerned about being on the ground, cots can solve that problem. Smaller, more adaptable pieces for your campsite will reduce your pre-fest heartburn about if you're going to be able to set up your campsite with the allotted space. You're going to have a blast at Bonnaroo, but we all want to be comfortable and confident that we've got it figured out before getting there. Please ask away if you have any other questions. We'll all work together and get them answered.

We did our test build today. We didn't finish with furniture, decorating or weights, since beers and pizza happened. EZ Ups have been fantastic so far.
Camp this year will be called "Ark". Our rules are:

Just curious about the purpose of putting a tarp over the easy ups?
Yup. It's also my back wall (the green side). At 'Roo we'll be staking it taut to give us a little more water protection.
Haven't thought of that one, might have to try it out once the snow melts up here! How big of a tarp do you use? Also what do you use as the ground cover?

Where did you get your shroomie flags!? Or are they home made? Either way they're pretty badass!

I got my tapestries from Gypsy Rose (http://www.gypsyrose.com/)
The cabin tent we bought for when we camp with our kids because we need the extra room, plus the height is nice since the husband is 6' 4" and he can stand in it. We are also planning to bring a 10x10 ez up. My concern with the bigger tent is that we won't have the room for it and the ez up in regular camping.
Any thoughts/advice from our more seasoned rooers?

I'd say the cabin tent is out, unless you end up with a bigger group and can share. Being able to stand up in a tent is nice but unnecessary, and you will not be spending any time inside it when the sun is up (assuming you don't shade it well), unless you like pouring sweat until you die.
In 2010-2011-2012 we had 2-3 cars and had plenty of extra room even with a really big tent - everyone in the area had as much space as they needed, plus some. For 2013-2014 I was camped with a single car, we were all parked much more tightly together, and there was barely room for one 9x7 tent plus a canopy. It sort of depends on where you end up, but you definitely can't count on getting more than the standard allotment.
When I first saw people putting their tents under their canopies, I thought they were on drugs. Maybe they were, but the shade helps. Now I bring a second canopy and put it over the tent, with tie-dyed sheets blocking the sun to the East and South. That way I can sleep in the tent past 8 AM, which definitely was not happening in 2010 (ridiculously hot year) with no shade. Lots of Inforoo folks forego tents entirely in favor of canopies. I slept outside under one in 2011 (also very hot) in a lounge chair and it was great, actually.
EZ Up for shade. Small single person tent for changing/privacy.
VW Wagon with back seats down and entire wagon area turned into a padded bed. All windows were rolled down and then I tied household window screening to roof and this laid over the windows for bug protection. You are perfectly comfortable all night and can turn on the AC (If you REALLY need to) around 9 AM for an hour.
I'm planning to take two 10x10 canopies, one with a hanging tent underneath, and one with a screenwall enclosure. I'm hoping if I connect the two that I'll have room for them in VIP camping. Any thoughts?

You will have enough room for that, assuming thats pretty much all the space you cover along with your car. My advice would be to camp with the VIP inforoo group. I met up with maybe 7 other cars prior to with people from the board then entered together. Everyone seemed to have more space as a result of this, and there was a constant community and I think safer site as a result of the numbers. I was able to get a 10x10 as well as a large screened dome shelter with a tent separate and a pup tent attached to the dome to accommodate the coolers. In retrospect, I'm sure I was blessed with corner lot placement, but there does seem to be more wiggle room - especially if camping in numbers.

Thanks for the info! We will definitely look into possibly camping with the inforoo VIP group.
