Thanks for undertaking this task of policing how the board works. I think it is so worth it. Hate having to scroll through such negative comments about bands to get to what I really want - positivity about bands we are fans of!
Yes, see coachella boards for reinforcement of this statement.
Have these changes somehow made the board worse? The board is much worse now. I'm not sure if this change was the cause, it seemed like a good idea at the time, but maybe we should consider the possibility? We seem to be attracting fewer people interested in actually talking about music now that the Which Stage is closed to noobs.
The Which stage is only "closed to noobs" until they make 10 posts elsewhere (and there are a good amount of basic threads to do that in). Then they are allowed in.
What specifically do you mean by "much worse now"? I've been on here for years and haven't really noticed any major shift but that could be because I'm blinded to it a bit. More details/examples would help and if you had any other suggestions I'd like to hear them. Really, the only change is that they can't start a brand new thread in Which until 50 posts and can't reply in Which until 10 posts. They can still talk all they want about music in The Music Lounge and get up to 10 posts in the What stage threads alone. So I'm not sure that these are the cause of the board being "worse" but I'm open to discussion/suggestions on what you think would help.
This policy is a real pain. I have something I want to contribute int he which stage. Instead of being able to contribute I have to reach a thread count. It's almost not worth it. The which stage is really the only area I visit, and it's the one area that is restricted. Is there a way to sorta vet a user without the required thread count? I'd be all for more transparency with my data in order to post. I'm unsure what happened to my old account, but I've been lurking since 2008 and posting occasionally before this.

Yea, the post count thing changed and is reflected in the intro message and some thread you should have read. But I will update this original thread in the first post so it's more clear. You have to make one post before being able to reply in the Which Stage. One post is really not that hard

If only the OP here could get edited.
I edited my post and got it in before you quoted me. I win!
Yea, it was updated. It still appears in plain detail at the beginning of the Intro PM that every new member gets. People just choose to ignore that helpful message

I wish what you said was true. I followed the initial PM that I received and posted a single post in the new member section. I was not allowed to post in the which stage until my 10th post was completed. Believe me, I tried.

Thanks for the heads up. I'll see if I can re-create the issue. It should be fine to reply if you have under 10 posts. Creating a new thread in Which definitely requires more posts but I'll look into this issue.

Yup, just tested this medphysdave and it is working fine. Not sure what the issue was that you were having but I didn't change anything and was able to post in the Which stage with at least one post (but under 10). Probably just a glitch. Other new members before you haven't reported it so maybe it was just a one-time issue.
Thanks so much for protecting us newbies. I have been part of inforoo for a few years now. I hate to comment because of what comments might be returned. Yikes!

Hello everyone. I have been following Inforoo on FB for a few years ever since I went to my 1st Bonnaroo in 2013. I appreciate what everyone does to better this info site, the ones behind the scenes, mods, musicians and positive people in general. Thank you for being you.
