Whether it's your first Bonnaroo or you’re a music festival veteran, we welcome you to Inforoo.
Here you'll find info about artists, rumors, camping tips, and the infamous Roo Clues. Have a look around then create an account and join in the fun. See you at Bonnaroo!!
Emoney serves more of a purpose than any of you, especially Nate, whose incessant, garbled ramblings are so mindless and pointless that I get depressed just seeing them.
How many bands playing this year have members who are members of other popular bands too? Like James Mercer in Broken bells from the Shins. Is there a thread for this?
Damon Albarn, Nicolas Jaar and Dave Harrington of Darkside and Pusha T (sorta) off the top of my head.
Not in the slightest, I'm not going either so I'm pleased. I'm lucky enough to have seen Prince but that doesn't change the fact I want Roo to be the standout bill this year.
Even without Prince I'd imagine Glastonbury will top Bonnaroo. It's kind of foolish even discussing Glasto with respect to the U.S. festivals, because the sheer amount of artists they book completely overwhelms what you'd get here. I generally just assume that every act or near every act I'd want to see in any given year will be at Glastonbury, because that's just how they do things.
It is usually brilliant, but because it is so big, you target maybe 3 bands a day to know you'll see, so you don't get as much bang for your buck as other fests. Especially in the rain some stages are an hours walk, so people don't bother. The scheduling can be heartbreaking too - Arctic Monkeys, Portishead, Chic and The Horrors all headlined stages last year.
Don't get me wrong, I absolutely love Glasto, but it is definitely more of a headache than some others.
Everyone I know with a Glasto ticket wishes Elton and Kanye were on more than they are excited for Kasabian and Arcade Fire. We've got it good at Roo this year

Yeah, is Kasabian really big in Europe or something? I don't know anybody who considers them relevant here, let alone is a fan.

Absolutely huge in the UK, they are really big with the Oasis neanderthal rock'n'roll types like. Sell out stadiums on their own. They are big in central Europe too, top 2 billing at most festivals. Stone Roses fans generally love them too, so they capitalised in the years those two weren't around. In fairness they put on a fantastic show, but their popularity is undeserving IMO.
I should have been clearer, top 2 in the European sense of HL or pre HL (so what would be top 6), the ranking of headliners and down accordingly is a North American thing to my knowledge.

I'm on my trek down the lineup and am now listening to Fitz and the Tantrums. It seems like this music is specifically made for festivals. I'm having a lot of fun with all the catchy songs and imagining the Roo show but I will literally never listen to them after Roo. There were some bands that fit this formula for me last year and I'm suspicious of some others this year, but never have I been so sure. Weird how I'll probably enjoy it a lot in anticipation for and at Roo.

I LOVED Fitz last year, and will see them again if the schedule permits, but I'm not crazy about much of their studio stuff.

I saw this news item that Joe Russo is going to be appearing with Cass McCombs at Roo this year. I'm sure it will be way more sedate than what he did with Bustle In Your Hedgerow (which was a highlight for me last year) or The Duo or various other groups he's played with at Roo. But he's such an amazing drummer that I may need to check this out.
So I wonder who will be the guest of honor at the Yonder Mountain show? I guess there are quite a few options, considering the bluegrass superjam will be later in the evening.

It's too bad Sarah Jarosz is on at the same time. She can smoke a mandolin. Even though he's not on the bill, I'd bet on Sam Bush if he's not booked elsewhere. I expect him to show up at the Bluegrass Superjam anyway. He's local and Sam pretty much shows up at anything that looks like a jam session in a 100 mile radius of Nashville.

I love the line up this year, so many great bands and artists playing. Along with everyone else on the planet - I hate Bonnaroo dropped the ball on getting OutKast this year.
On a personal note, I was hoping Thievery Corporation would come back this year. Their show in 2010 at the farm was crazy fun! Everyone was at Jay Z - but I'm glad I passed him up for Thievery! Such a great night.

So, it's gonna be sam bush. hell fucking yeah. even better news for the bluegrass superjam as well.

Interview with Robby Krieger, Wiz Khalifa, and TJ Miller found here:
Krieger spoke about his upcoming plans with The Doors, and his take on modern music.
But first he discussed his plan for his appearance at Saturday’s Skrillex-led SuperJam, which will also feature Big Gigantic, Damian Marley, Zedd, Mickey Hart, Janelle Monae, Warpaint, Thundercat and Chance The Rapper.
Krieger assured us that no one will have trouble hearing his signature guitar during the performance.
“I’m bringing an extra amplifier,” he said. “I’ve been in too many loud situations. You just have to be either as loud or louder than the other guy. That’s the rule.”
He also said that he and Skrillex haven’t discussed the SuperJam at all.
“I’m trying to get a hold of him but, you know, he’s a busy guy,” Krieger said.
He also confessed that he isn’t familiar with most of his SuperJam collaborators, and isn’t very fond of modern music.
“You know, I probably should keep up more than I do, but to tell you the truth, I just don’t get most of the music today,” he said. “You know, the last guy who really knocked me out was like Bob Marley. I’m waiting for something, like some guy to come along who really will change everything.
“And I mean, I like John Mayer and I like The Killers and, you know, a lot of bands are good. But there’s nobody that’s really changing anything.”
Krieger said he’s in the process of building an all-analog gear studio, and voiced his displeasure with digital music.
“The whole digital thing, it seems like it makes too many of the songs sound the same,” he said.
There was also some good news for Doors fans. Krieger confirmed that he and John Densmore are in talks to pay tribute to deceased former bandmates Ray Manzarek and Jim Morrison on stage, but said that it will take time.
“It’s just very difficult to get the kind of people that we want all together at the same time,” he said. “But we’re working on it, and it should happen. You know, we don’t want it to be half-assed.”
tj miller bonnaroo 2014 TJ Miller opened up his portion of the interview by introducing himself to everyone.
“Don’t be afraid to ask all of the thoughts that come through your minds. I was Ranger Jones in Yogi Bear 3-D — And yes, that was my best role,” he joked.
The actor/comedian is best known for his role on HBO comedy series Silicon Valley, portraying Erlich Bachman.
Miller promised a largely improvised set, and spoke candidly about his brief career in music.
“The music album was me making fun of the medium of music and we’re all making fun of the fact that I made one and then remixing that and making fun of the fact that, you know, those thing collapse upon themselves,” he said. “That’s part of the hierarchy and structure of absurdism.”
He also compared his improvisational approach to an Allman Brothers Band show he saw as a teenager.
“I’m like this — there’s no other time that you will see this show,” he said.
Bonnaroo 2014 Wiz Khalifa Wiz Khalifa was last on the line and promised the Bonnaroo crowd would hear an “appropriate” amount of new material.
He said he’s in the studio putting the final touches on his forthcoming album Blacc Hollywood.
He talked about playing his set Sunday right before Elton John.
“That’s pretty legendary,” Khalifa said. “It would be tight if he could see my set, or like a piece of it.”
He also gave his thoughts on incorporating live musicians into hip hop, and why he continues to do so.
“The fact that there are other musicians on stage, that gives it a whole other element,” he said. “My band is excellent at what the day. And they know how to really vibe off of not only me, but the original song and how to just, you know, make it their own. I think that’s really important with any band.
“So just having that and being able to improvise and do things where basically we can’t go wrong, man. It’s just music at the end of the day.”
Khalifa remained cryptic about any surprise guests, but said he’s looking forward to playing to some unfamiliar faces in the crowds.
“I just like the freedom that you have when you do the festivals, because a lot of the people — they might have one or two favorite songs, but to really get them to enjoy a whole set of brand new material and know that, you know, you’re winning them over, is kind of cool.”

I knew and was excited about it but hadn't been watching a lot of Silicon Valley when he was announced. That show is solid and gets funnier every episode. He's also the voice behind the camera in Cloverfield. His stand up is great.
They're up against some tough competition, but I saw Diarrhea Planet tonight and they were phenomenal. Everything about them being one of the best live bands around is 100% true.

Since I can't create individual threads yet and there is no threads for them, I guess I'll take it to here. When the schedule was released, I knew that I would have to learn of some new artists to fill in the time when my top acts aren't playing. I looked around for Bonnaroo playlists and everything and discovered a few acts that I would've never discovered before.
