Time to get hip to the five-man jam machine that is Jonathan Wilson and his touring band.
Most know him as one of the best producers out there today, or as the current King of Laurel Canyon. The jams he hosted at his place were downright mythical, with Father John Misty, Chris Robinson, David Crosby, half the Heartbreakers and Jackson Browne all stopping in at one point or another. But in addition to being a six-string master, he's also a hell of a songwriter, and Fanfare was one of my favorite albums of 2013. The three-hour sets he's been playing on tour this winter are the stuff my dreams are made of. In fact, the entire show I saw a couple weeks ago was so good it practically felt like a dream. Wilson and his band are so talented they almost defy description.
This guy is going to make a LOT of new fans -- just give him and his band a Thursday night set and let's start the weekend with a heavy dose of JAM!
super pumped!!! gonna see him this saturday in Nashville, so this comes as a bit of a surprise. Are they seriously playing shows that long??? 3 hrs seems a bit of a stretch, but I'm all for it.

Kick Ass!
The show I saw on the 10th, he took the stage at exactly 10PM and left just after the clock struck 1AM. Obviously that was with an encore break, but goddamn, NO ONE plays that long anymore. Best value on the live music scene right now for sure!
OK.... so the Jonathan Wilson show rocked last saturday night at Mercy Lounge in Nashville. Th crowd was surprisingly not that large, so getting up close wasn't an issue at all, and I was actually able to get some pretty awesome video and audio, with some bad ass jams included. The best of the night was easily the 18 minute encore of "Valley of the Silver Moon".... which I've linked below. Just click my username on youtube to check out the other songs from that night. I still have to upload "Ballad of the Pines". Also, on "Desert Raven" and "Angel", there is a still pic that starts off the video bc i hadn't turned on my camera yet, but it dissolves into the video in 30 seconds or so.... enjoy, and select 720p for high-def video.
I just discovered him last month off of the Mountain Jam lineup and already love him. On my research spreadsheet I gave him a 7+ and wrote, "Jammy! Fun!" (I'm so creative) A 7+ is a pretty high initial rating for me, so I am hoping that he doesn't disappoint.
Hopefully I'll be catching him there to (maybe) ease up on Roo conflicts.
Welcome back Bonz, but I do not find it strange that your presence being requested in the Orgy thread and then you showing up, like it was the quacking Bonzai Bat Signal.
