I can't stop listening to it. Human sadness is a brilliant opus!
You're both insane, this album is absolute dogshit.
Yikes.
I honestly had zero expectations for this album. Not a shred of excitement. However, it absolutely blew me away. It's the best album this year and it's not really a contest. It will be a cult classic someday. I suppose it's just the cool thing to hate on Julian.
Please find me a better four song run than Human Sadness > Where No Eagles Fly > Father Electricity > Johan Von Bronx in a recent release. Also, if you can find me an album as daringly creative, I'd love to hear it.

It's daring yet also terrible. The two aren't mutually exclusive. Making an album of unlistenable garbage isn't daring, it's substituting a difficult listening experience for actual creativity. It's the height of making something terrible then saying "you just don't get it" when people tell you how bad it is.
Better four song runs from albums in 2014? I mean, I could pick any four songs in a row from an album that's actually good, but here are a few examples:
Press, Mumble, Dry, Clear: Whirr, Sway Heard About You Last Night, Simon Ferocious, Remurdered, Hexon Bogon: Mogwai, Rave Tapes pretty much any run of four songs in a row: Warpaint, Warpaint Can't Do Without You, Silver, All I Ever Need, Our Love: Caribou, Our Love What Goes Around, Carry On, The Thrill is Back, the Imperial: Statik Selektah, #whatgoesaround if you take out "Money Man," then you can pick any 4 song run: the 2 Bears, The Night is Young The Satanist, Ben Sahar, In the Absence of Light, O Father O Satan O Sun!: Behemoth, the Satanist Power to the People, Unicorn, Never Say Never, We Are Not Alone: Basement Jaxx, Junto
...but I mean really, I could keep going. It doesn't really matter, you like the album and that's terrific, that's all that really matters. I was just so surprised to hear multiple people exclaim their enthusiasm for this record, particularly in terms of calling it the best of the year. I don't know that I've seen anyone show anything more than a "well, he tried" sentiment echoing in the positive on this one, so I was stunned at the response.
It would be neat if Rx Bandits came back to play Bonnaroo since they have a new album out and have played a festival since its release. The last time they were at Bonnaroo was 2007 and that was when they still were defined as Ska.

Really hoping we get one of the following as our top electronic act:
Portishead The Prodigy Fatboy Slim Chemical Brothers
There's your best chance. But odds are the "top" electronic act will be one of Calvin Harris, Bassnectar, or Pretty Lights.
Yes, I know, that's why I said "hope", not "expect". I wouldn't be surprised if we got Calvin Harris and/or Bassnectar which I'd be happy with cause I've never seen nectar and I've no desire to see Calvin Harris but he would have a huge crowd, giving me more room/better spots at other shows. But I'm holding out hope for Fatboy Slim and Bassnectar

I have yet to see them to their full potential live. Saw them do an acoustic set in a record store. That was cool. His voice is even better in person. But I would love to go crazy and jump around to the Bandits under That Tent
I saw Rx Bandits at Riot Fest in Chicago and I must say they have an awesome sound crew because they sounded amazing for a band that was in the beginning of the day. I know everyone wants their favorite band to be at Bonnaroo, but Rx Bandits would be an awesome addition to the lineup even if it was a Thursday afternoon performance.

I fully believe that primus will be back on the farm this year. What would be badass is if we had a les Claypool superjam too! I wouldn't be surprised to see them pre HL, but I would much rather them play around the same spot as phoenix this year. Actually, now that I think about it, I think that would be the same spot they played last time in 2011, but I can't quite remember...
I can totally see a Les Claypool superjam next year. He's been in superjams in the past and is a roo vet. Would love to see the stuff him and the superjam band can pull out! What do you think? I can see a Zeppelin or RATM cover.

Their earlier stuff is definitely closer to ska, though they've kept that influence in their later releases. Their '07 set wasn't all that ska heavy if you're talking about tracks off of Progress or earlier. They'd be great to have back, though.
They still play some material from their ska days -- the main difference is that they got rid of their brass section. I really wish I could have seen The Resignation tour where they brought back their brass section and played that album (one of my favorite Rx Bandits albums) in full.

I have no idea what his superjam would be like, other than it would be super weird and awesome!

to give you an idea, in 2008 he played the superjam with gogol bordello and they did tom waits covers.

It would be a bunch of crappy Tom Waits covers with the idiots from Gogol Bordello. We've seen this movie before.
The Les Claypool/Gogol Bordello superjam was so bad it damn near killed the whole concept.
Really? There was not a big crowd because of the MMJ set, and it started late but the music itself and the show was pretty good. I am a Waits fan to start with so that helps, but I am not sure why this show gets so much hate.
They tell us "Rock'n'roll is the devil's music." Well, let's say we know that rock is the devil's music, and we know that it is, for sure … At least he fuckin' jams! If it's a choice between eternal Hell and good tunes, and eternal Heaven and New Kids on the fuckin' Block … I'm gonna be surfin' on the lake of fire, rockin' out.
Chic feat Nile Rodgers ON TOP of it being a superjam would seriously blow every other superjam out of the water, nothing realistic could compare. Though I drool over the idea of Grohl leading a Nirvana superjam (or just garage/grunge in general)

I agree wholeheartedly. Nile Rodgers leading a disco/soul/funk superjam and Dave Grohl leading a metal/grunge superjam would be pretty epic. The metal/grunge superjam could feature songs from Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple, Black Sabbath, Metallica, Nirvana, etc. Do you think Dave could convince Josh Homme and John Paul Jones to show up for something like that? Also, imagine if Pharrell Williams and/or D'Angelo were on the bill and contributed to the Nile Rodgers superjam. Probably unrealistic, but one can dream.

I dunno. If you're talking about all time SuperJams that lineup Jim James had and Questlove bringing D'Angelo out of hiatus were pretty spectacular. Wouldn't A Chic with Nile Rodgers SuperJam just be A Chic with Nile Rodgers performance. I guess they could have guests and call it a Disco SuperJam.

I'm just not into D'angelo. Though, with the rarity of that performance, I'd understand a fan of him being head over heels for that super jam. But, I didn't see all of that SJ. However, I DID see all of the Jim James SJ which is one of my favorite shows ever (for a multitude of circumstantial reasons, on top of it being a flat out amazing performance.)
To address the Chic/Niles SJ, The way it could be done is to just have a Nile Rodgers SJ and then they could have the horns from Chic and then members from some of the other million projects Nile has worked on. But I'd totally be happy with them just giving Chic/Nile a closing LN spot (I assume on the which, right?) and saving the super jam for something/someone because chic is basically a SJ itself. And I think either show would trump Jim James for me, personally
