Sounds good. I must warn you that I was just released from a high security mental health facility... Just kidding. It's a date!
If there is a company with security guards who can keep their jobs after letting mental patients escape, then I think I finally found a job for my loser brother.

Was anybody else there for his set at Lolla two years ago? It was incredible, Frank is a truly talented individual. I got a great video of him singing Bad Relegion I need to find for you all. Unfortunately I have a feeling he'll be playing before Knaye on the which on Friday and like many people I'll be waiting for the pit so I'll have to miss him. Here's to hoping that doesn't have to happen.
I had only really heard/listened to a few of his songs from Channel Orange and thought it was ok. Thank you for this link, I have been listening to this almost nonstop. I also went back and listened to Channel Orange a few more times and am enjoying it much more.
Ok guys. I feel little ashamed, like I should go sit in my corner and think about what I’ve done. “Bad Bonzai. Bad!” After all the Frank Ocean love last year and the cries for AOTY… I never listened to him. Never even tried. I finally gave him a listen last night. WHOWWW! I was NOT expecting the wondrous things that I heard. I need to listen a few more times before I can put together words into a coherent review, but really... I am so sorry that I waited so long and I am SO glad that AC booked him this year!
Welcome back Bonz, but I do not find it strange that your presence being requested in the Orgy thread and then you showing up, like it was the quacking Bonzai Bat Signal.

I'm stoked that this is a late night show, and won't be conflicted with the rock bands in the top two lines. Now here's to hoping he's not up against Disclosure.

Even worse... Sounds like he might be against SuperJam "?". First R Kelly, now this shit! I will die

This is great news! Unless of course, as already stated, Disclosure is at the same time. I cannot be greedy though. At least the nightmare of him closing the Which stage and missing him for certain is now over. I will certainly take full advantage of the VIP section for Frank Ocean.

Oh man you might be right. Was bummed I missed R. Kelly last year for the Superjam, but it was so worth it.
Edit: Love the Kanye/Mayer signature. "Go back and listen to 'Daughters', bitches."

I keep seeing all this hype for Frank Ocean at Bonnaroo... I wasn't really familiar with him at all, so I found his album- channel ORANGE. I listened to it, all the way through- literally start to end. Then I checked out Novacane and Swim Good. I just don't see why everyone is so excited for this. I'm not hating, because it's not like I hate what I hear... it's a pleasant R&B sound. But honestly, I feel like I might fall asleep if I check his set out. I just don't hear anything special in his recordings that is making me want to ride the rail. Can anyone tell me what I'm missing here? Is there another album that would make me change my mind? I want to be blown away by what I hear, but I'm not. At this point, if last night's AMA is true and Frank gets a late night, that night will be better with less conflicts, for me at least.

The potential upside to this - look where Kels ended up after finishing his set.

I'd give Channel Orange a few listens. It didn't click for me on the first few listens either. Now it's probably the most played album on my iPod. Also, you might want to pay some extra attention to the lyrics. There's plenty of people who don't ever like him, but I just suggest you let an album grow on you. If that doesn't help, you might just simply not be a fan

Um, I don't think anyone can tell you how to like his music. His songwriting his different from many traditional R&B artists and he's an engaging performer, but if it's not your bag then hey, whatever.

This is what I was going to say. I was indifferent to the album but then the lyrics to Thinkin' Bout You jumped out at me. I was hooked after that.

Yea, I'd recommend this for ANY album you listen to. I always try to give new albums a bunch of listens before I really come around to how I feel about it. Repeat listens let your ear find things that you didn't really notice before and you start to get into the flow of the album more.

Very excited for Frank, Channel ORANGE and Nostalgia, Ultra are two of my favorite releases of the decade. Anyone know if he's still playing with BADBADNOTGOOD?

One of those guys I like to listen to but if I don't see him it won't be the end of the world. Having said that, I still think his set will be very very good.

I saw him at All Tomorrow Parties a couple years ago and he sounded as good if not better live. The band was also tight. It depends on the schedule, but I wouldn't mind checking him again again and recommend seeing him.
Yet another reason to be upset that they failed to book John Mayer once again
Kev-Bot, I feel like I'm getting closer and closer to you every day this week. Between your respect for Frank Ocean, John Mayer, and New Orleans po-boys, I think we are star-crossed lovers
Can I get in on this action? If so, I'll buy three po-boysfor us if Bonnaroo announces Mayer and a po-boy vendor.

I was at a high school 'cabaret' fundraiser a couple of years ago, and a young couple came out to sing "Thinking About You." When they got to the "you know, you were my first time" lyric, you could feel the respective sphincter of every parent (about 75% of the audience) retract simultaneously. There was even a delayed round of applause that had to be prompted by a single person clapping. It was incredible.
I told a friend of mine who lives about 10 hours away by car, and the same thing happened to him at the HS Talent Show he attended.
If it weren't for Nick Cave, I would be attending this show so I could be launched into the same laughing fit I had to stifle in that bizarre black-box auditorium.
(1) Damon Albarn (2) Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds (3) King Khan & His Shrines (4) Ty Segall (5) Ms Lauryn Hill (6) Darkside (7) Kanye (8) Janelle Monae (9) Goat (10) Meshuggah.
