I've heard some mixed things about her live shows in recent years - anyone seen her lately to give a report? - but if her setlist is anything like what she played in Atlanta this week, sign me up:
Killing Me Softly (Lori Lieberman cover) Everything Is Everything Final Hour Lost Ones Ex-Factor I Only Have Eyes for You (The Flamingos cover) Zealots (Fugees song) How Many Mics (Fugees song) Fu-Gee-La (Fugees song) Ready or Not (Fugees song) Killing Me Softly (Reprise) Turn Your Lights Down Low (Bob Marley & The Wailers cover) Damnable Heresies Guarding the Gates Black Rage Never Dreamed You'd Leave in Summer (Stevie Wonder cover) Love's in Need of Love Today (Stevie Wonder cover) Master Blaster (Jammin') (Stevie Wonder cover) Zimbabwe (Bob Marley & The Wailers cover) Could You Be Loved (Bob Marley & The Wailers cover) Doo Wop (That Thing)
I freaked a little bit when I saw this! This is someone I loves when I was younger that I never though I would get the chance to see. Bonnaroo magic right there! Pumped for Lauryn Hill 2014!

^Totally agree with that! What an amaaazing surprise. I was a huge Fugees fan in the mid 90s. Killing Me Softly was my theme song for like 2 years, although I did not realize until now that it was a cover! Oh well, there was no interwebz back then.
Welcome back Bonz, but I do not find it strange that your presence being requested in the Orgy thread and then you showing up, like it was the quacking Bonzai Bat Signal.
I had gone through the expected & confirmed list, and had come to terms with everything I was going to miss... until they dropped this one on us. I just hope they stream it / someone gets a good recording.
Footage from a show in November (and at the Bowery Ballroom, no less - love that place! ):

the "ms." lauryn hill thing threw me for a minute and i was frantically searching to make sure it wasn't something different like a tribute act or something before freaking out with joy

When I saw her she looked.. unstable, and it showed in her performance. The videos I've looked up she definitely looks a little better. I think it would be a mistake to take out your fugees record and expect her to be exactly like that, but I'm.... cautiously optimistic?

Wow - that setlist took me from intrigued to excited very quickly.
I have also heard mixed things about her shows. A few years ago there were some less-than-positive reviews, but her more recent shows have been well received. I think she'll deliver.

that stevie wonder cover of Ive never dreamed.. did she only record that for the Common song or am I missing it somewhere. I'd really want to see that at a show.
I saw her in 2011 and while everyone around me was like "What the fuck is this?", I was having the time of my life. She went on three hours late and played like she was on speed. That's the kinda shit I wanna see at Roo. I jumped up and screamed in excitement when I saw her name on BLAM.
I went ballistic when I saw her on the line up! I never thought I would see her in concert but now I finally can! Man I wish she would drop a album. A girl tried to compare her to Niki Minaj and it hurt my soul something fierce.

Yeah that comparison isn't even close. Completely different styles. Minaj is a solid rapper but I feel like Lauryn Hill has the best of both worlds here when it comes to rapping and singing. Definitely on Team Hill! So glad we get the chance to see her!

Lauryn Hill has been a part of classic songs and albums. To me Minaj's greatest work so far was her verses on Monster and Up all Night sooo yeah idk about a comparison

Yeah I only liked her on Monster too and everything else I've listened from her I just wasn't feeling it.
