I've been wanting to see them for a long time. I passed up seeing them in high school because I had to spend the money I'd buy tickets with on prom shit.
Emoney serves more of a purpose than any of you, especially Nate, whose incessant, garbled ramblings are so mindless and pointless that I get depressed just seeing them.
They were really good at music midtown last year. Their front man went on social and political rants a lot of the time haha. Most of my friends didn't like it but I didn't mind.

Yeah he's suuper finicky. He will stop a show dead in its tracks to tweak minuscule sound issues. Lets hope they dont get thrown into a mid-day Which. He may blow his brains out in front of us all.

Yeah, at the Ommegang show he went on for 10 minutes about an apple tree they were giving away. That turned into something about global warming and taking care of the environment. He was very drunk.
I saw them at Beale Street festival a few years ago. They were a lot of fun but they were obviously drunk. I've heard a lot about the whole giving away a tree thing though since then. I've heard some people say that when they give a way a tree it can take like 20 or 30 minutes because he's so fucked up, he can't even stay on track with his off track conversation. If I get to go, I plan on seeing them again.

When Cake was confirmed, so was my ticket purchase... I've been trying to see these guys for years- they are easily in my All Time Top 10 bands (that is my personal opinion, and really I don't care if others agree). Just wanted to say this should be amazing! I'll see you guys on the rail!

How many years ago? I saw them at Beale St. in 2006, and McCrea went off on this long rant about illegal downloading (ah, the good old days). He said at point that he expected to be fairly compensated for his music, something like one song for a ham sandwich. So then someone from the crowd threw a sandwich on stage. Fucking classic! And then he threw a fit about the sound being off and they walked off stage for twenty minutes. He's got a little diva in him.
I left their set early to see P-Funk. Would love to see them again. Too bad bonnaroo's out this year.
This made me so happy. My love for Cake's music and the fact that the theme song to Chuck is Short Skirt, Long Jacket makes this one of my most anticipated shows this year!

Went to lunch today with a hard rock colleague. I told him I was so excited to see Cake. He said, "God I hate that band. Their music makes no sense. However, I did find myself singing along with them on the radio the other day. Then I reminded myself that I hate that band."

First off, avoid their Facebook page at all costs. I've been listening to Cake since early middle school. My cousins had Fashion Nugget and we used to play it in their living room all the time. This was mostly because we only wanted to hear that, Megadeath, and the song "Low Rider." Back then I thought Cake was edgy and inappropriate for me because they talk about testicles in one of their songs. As a teen I was in Colorado for my cousin's wedding when Comfort Eagle came out. I walked from our hotel to some mall to buy it on CD. I spent that week listening to it and ICP on my Walkman every time I was alone. I saw them in 2007 and it was an incredible show. The rants were thankfully kept to a minimum. A couple years ago I gave my sister a Cake ticket for her birthday and she said that was a great show too. I still play their music regularly and am very excited for their Roo set, unless they're mid-day Which. If that's the case I'll probably just stick with my memories haha.
I saw them three years ago in St Pete, good show. His rants were minimal and funny and they gave away a tree. Biggest disappointment was No "I Will Survive".

I saw them in 2011 at beale street. They had a couple local people playing trumpet supporting them. When they did Federal Funding, they talked about the federal budget a bit, but I remember it being pretty short.
I've seen them twice now. Back in 2005 at the 9:30 Club with Gogol Bordello, and Tegan and Sara and then at the DC101 Chili Cook-off in 2012. No rants the first show, and he said he was sick the second time so he didn't really talk much.
I think they'll be a great fit on The Farm and look forward to their set!

Saw them in 2012 @ Red Hat Amphitheater in Raleigh they put on a great show and was tons of fun. Like others have said hopefully not put on a Stage during the afternoon heat and I will definitely be at their set.

But you know they're screaming mid-late afternoon Which though.

Saw Cake a couple years ago in Boston back in 2012. They were on the same bill as a couple of other groups, Delta Spirit, Two Door Cinema Club, and Grouplove. Cake were billed as the headliners, though honestly Two Door and Grouplove, who I wasn't really that into at the time, put on a much better show. Cake definitely plays it safe live, though if you don't have any conflicts it's definitely a fun show.
TL: DR; Cake is okay live--- but if Grouplove, AM, or Darkside are playing at the same time, don't sweat missing the birthday party, you can still get there in time for "Short Skirt, Long Jacket"
Only seen Cake once, but it was the first concert I attended without adult supervision. I was 14, and let me tell you, it was super cool to be dropped off and picked up by your mom in front of the venue! I can't complain though, my parents were cool enough to take me in the first place
I don't remember any rants back then. Maybe he wasn't really doing them much, or I could just not remember it.
Edit: This is one thing I really hate about "e-tickets", I don't get the hard copy of the ticket stub. I try to keep all my concert tickets in a box for nostalgia sake. I've been meaning to go through my email and print off any tickets I see I bought. Some venues make it look like a ticket, others just give you some QR code.

Cake eluded me for about 8 years and I finally got to see them last year at Music Midtown. Super fun but he seriously needs to cut his stupid banter in half. These are one of the bands you don't want to find out too much about, just like their music. It's better that way. Not that trying to change the world with your fame is a bad thing, but you can only be so big of an ass about it till it gets old.
