I've seen them multiple times and they've put on a great show each time. I've grown kind of jaded by their music in recent years, but I'll probably see them for nostalgia reasons.

I love Cake and when they were added to Music Midtown I was so pumped, but I couldn't have been more disappointed. The set was scattered, sound was shit and the energy was low. I am excited to give them another shot.
I saw them three years ago in St Pete, good show. His rants were minimal and funny and they gave away a tree. Biggest disappointment was No "I Will Survive".
They played a club in Memphis when I was in high school. Lots of people were yelling for "I will survive" and it led to a pissed off rant about people wanting to hear a song they didn't write and yada yada.
They played volapalooza at UT, and at that time it was held in a park area near all the frat houses. He just made fun of frats and Christians between songs.

I'd kind of like to see them in an early afternoon which stage slot. I feel like everyone I want to see on the line up is all going to be crammed at once into preheadliner and late night slots, it'll be really nice to see a couple acts I like get put in early slots so I can actually see them
Just revisited Pressure Chief for the first time in a long time. My friends and I spun the shit out of that album in high school while driving around aimlessly. So many great songs. Pumped to (hopefully) see Cake.

That sounds great, I wish I was going to UT when that happened.

I am absolutely going to reconnect with some of my youth and check out this show at the farm. I was more interested in seeing them when I was younger than I am now but still happy to get to see them perform. At the same time, if they started the show playing the handful of hits we know and remember, I will say "Cake...check. Next?" That is not typical for us and we intend to enjoy the whole set (especially since we know they wont do that anyway) but just an indication of where we are at with Cake. The comments here dont make me more or less excited.
I just saw Cake last night. Phenomenal show. John McCrea has a ton of energy and really interacts with the crowd. They also had the clearest sound I've ever heard at a show. They do a great job of keeping the vocals clear.
I saw Cake a handful of times at several venues around Nashville (Vandy's Rites of Spring '05, the Ryman '01, Dancin in the District '00) and every time I cringed at the political stuff and the forced audience participation, but I still kept coming back and I'm really looking forward to the set at Bonnaroo. Some may argue that they keep putting out the same album, but it's a hell of an album!

It kinda snuck up on me how excited I am for this show. They're the only band on the lineup I've been a big fan of since I was a kid.
The only other time I had a chance to see CAKE, I spent the money I would have bought my tickets with on prom shit. Shoulda gone to the show. I also only started listening to them originally because a girl I was crushing had them on her favorite music on FB back in like 2006.
Emoney serves more of a purpose than any of you, especially Nate, whose incessant, garbled ramblings are so mindless and pointless that I get depressed just seeing them.
I've seen them a few times here in NYC. All 3 times they put on a great show. I have always wanted to see them at the Farm and have even asked them in person if they were ever gonna play and they said they had hoped to, and now here we are! Woohoo!! My favorite song is No Phone, I hope they do play it.
Also, regards to their tree giving, they haven't done that in years, although they may take this as an opportunity to. And his rants are not so much political, but environmental, which are two separate things. One can argue the difference between Republicans and Democrats, but no one can argue with the fact that Fossil Fuels are TOXIC and poison people/air/soil/water. It's a fucking fact. We NEED outspoken men like John to keep spreading the truth. We do. If we want to continue to go to Bonnaroo, which is threatened by potential floods and tornadoes.
Oops, did I just go off on a rant? I think I may have. Anywho, stoked for this show.

There was plenty of room in the VIP viewing section, and being able to get that close for Cake while arriving right at their start time has sealed the deal for me and VIP in the future.
