any suggestions for me? I'm 15 years old. a complete music fanatic . I've been wanting to go to a music fest for quite a while now. I'm not reckless, and I don't go ape shit with drugs or whatever. I'm looking for a good music fest in or around Georgia that would be good for me to gain experience so that I can hopefully go to bonnaroo in the upcoming years. any suggestions?

I started going to shows when I was 16. My first show was Rage Against the Machine, and my parents dropped me and a friend off. After that I started driving and going with a few friends to a lot of shows. My best advice is to have a buddy system. You can work up to going to stuff alone like a lot of people on these boards do, but being young and inexperienced I would try to always keep a friend close by, just in case. At most festivals people really do watch out for each other, but there are always the exceptions to that, so you've got to be smart about going anywhere by yourself. Read this: 10 Safety Tips Women Should Know when going to their First Music Festival Some of it's fluff or over kill, but there are several good points in there.
Welcome to the addicting world of music festivals!

First off, Welcome! As far local fests near by you try Counterpoint or Shaky Knees. Counterpoint is more of a camping fest, while Shaky Knees is a city (non-camping) fest. I am not sure what your taste is, but between the two I mentioned you have a good selection. I will say Counterpoint may prepare you a little more for Bonnaroo just because it is camping and you will have many of the supplies needed once you are able to make the jump to Bonnaroo.

I would suggest Hangout Fest. I went a couple years back and it's got a lot of good things that make it an ideal first time festival.
1) You're staying either in a hotel or condo, so you don't have worry about the heat as much or having everything you need to camp for 4 days. 2) It's on the beach. I mean, come on, that's awesome. 3) Security is good. By that I mean they are present and drug use is minimal. That's something your mom would want to hear. 4) You won't be the only young-er teenager there. I saw a lot of 15/16 year old people there.
The lineup for Hangout is already out and it's pretty good. If you can get a group of friends going, I'd say do it.
I posted this in the other thread, but I'll put it here as well. Any festival at the Spirit of the Suwannee Music Park in Live Oak, FL would be a great place to start. (Wanee, Aura, Bear Creek, etc.)
Welcome back Bonz, but I do not find it strange that your presence being requested in the Orgy thread and then you showing up, like it was the quacking Bonzai Bat Signal.

understand where you're coming from, but camping out is one of the best parts of a fest!! listen to Bonzai, she knows what's up!!
