How much food can I get away with bringing inside? Thinking dehydrated sorts of things I would use while backpacking - jerky, dried veggies/fruits, granola, a juice box or two
I think some or all of those would be fine. They generally don't frown on snacks and if someone hassles you or says you can't get in I'd go back and try a different line or mention that you have low blood sugar or something like that and need the snacks. If it's not full meals or a picnic basket they generally let you in. I've brought in small packs of peanut butter crackers or granola bars without any problems.
How much will they allow you to bring inside with the intent to use for sleeping? i.e. camp pillows, a blanket, a moon mat?
Pretty much whatever you can bring in your bag. I wouldn't bring an air-mattress or cot or anything but I've gone in with a small pillow and blanket/towel to use when just lounging around. It may make the bag search a little more annoying if they ask you to take it out but it's not bad.
Where are the best places to catch some shut-eye around 2 or 3 til full daylight?
Some shade areas under trees in the less populated area by the Cinema and Comedy tents are decent. There's a lot more foot traffic and some music but you can probably find some spots in the Awareness village in the center of centeroo.
There are also some sponsored areas/tents that are made for relaxing/lounging. Not sure if they'd frown on you sleeping but worst case scenario someone pokes ya and says not to pass out here.
What are your experiences napping/staying over inside?
I haven't slept inside Centeroo in a few years. Back when I first started going the cinema tent was way less strict and organized. Now they have tons of folding chairs that are zip-tied together but originally that was just the middle section and the sides of the tent had couches. You can imagine LOTS of people hogging these things and using them to sleep instead of watch stuff.
They used to allow you to lay down in front of all the seats and watch movies. I would go in there with a blanket and pass out after late nights for a year or two. Then walk back to camp around 7 or 8 to grab some things and head back in.
They don't let you sleep in the movie tent anymore. It used to be a lot more like the wild west in there. No authority at all. That's changed. It makes for a better cinema experience but I enjoyed watching movies as I passed out.
Going to Roo for my third time this year, and I feel like I have spent a lot of time in past years going back & forth between camp and Centeroo, waiting in line to enter Centeroo, staying at camp & missing artists just to avoid the line to Centeroo, going to bed in my tent by 1:00 am and waking up with a headache anyway around 8:00 am, etc. I feel like I've been missing out on so much by doing it this way.
I've reviewed the thread about never leaving Centeroo, and found some things there to be helpful but I have questions -

I wouldn't worry about the amount of food that you want to bring in. I don't think that anyone would have an issue with you bringing in a bunch of snacks. I think, instead of juice boxes, I would bring an empty water bottle and some Mio drops or an empty Camelbak so you can fill up at the water station. You might catch some static with bringing in drinks, unless they can tell it's an unopened bottle. As far as sleeping in Centeroo...I've had the best luck under the big white shade tents. Great idea with the moon mat!!

I don't see why they don't let you sleep in there...obviously they're OK with folks urinating in there. Cinema tent is awesome, but it reeks in there

People don't urinate in there...at least that I've noticed. I think maybe that's just the smell of a few hundred dirty, sweaty, festival-goers. Or maybe too many people were leaning up against the wall.

Last year there was an open tent between the comedy tent and cinema.
I saw lots of people sleeping there.
Trees etc.
I have debated doing this and bringing a travel hammock that fits in a bag. It's going to depend on the schedule really. Probably going to stay at a hotel and ride back and forth with some friends there, but if they want to leave at midnight, and there is someone I want to see at one, I don't want to force them to stay.
Also, if there is an early act, and they won't get into centroo till noon or later, I could just crash with the travel hammock also.
Thinking of lots of different possibilities. But I think intense rain could change a lot of the staying in centroo plans.

I've always worn shorts with pockets, and I looooooad them up with snacks like crackers and granola bars..I also bring in a small backpack or something like that and load it up with snacks....the worst thats happened to me going into Centeroo is I've got some weird looks from the security, it looks like they're thinking "why does this guy have enough dried fruit and crackers to feed 10 people?"...unless they've changed something, the website says its ok to bring snacks and water into Centeroo.....I always wake up at like 9 am at my camp, eat as muuuuuch food as I can there, then head into Centeroo with my snacks....I don't go back to camp til like 4 am every night, the rest of the time is spent in Centeroo each day.

So, last year I noticed the "shade area" sort of near the clock tower entrance and the Adult Swim spot... you know, it had the poles and the colored shade sails... anyone know the policy on bringing in a ENO hammock and setting up under there? I would totally sleep in Centeroo if that was allowed.
In 2008 my camp was really far away. We learned to walk faster without spilling multiple drinks that year. But I don't remember it being a scheduling problem. A few well timed snacks were all we needed to keep us going. Sleep was never really an issue either.
If there's one thing I've learned from Bonnaroo, it's that the human body can subsist for a very long time on nothing but Clif bars, water, and beef jerky.

I have been fortunate in years past to get to do Access because of my left leg. Short walk back to camp and usually not a long line to get in thru Access entry. Last year, however, the line to get in thru Access was insane! A guy had 5 Clif bars and the security person told him that was too many. He then proceeded to go thru his ENTIRE pill bottle, asking why he put them all in one. When he said it was to make it easier to take his meds, they made him go back and get EACH INDIVIDUAL bottle to prove they were all legit. I assume he did so because i saw him back in line with a huge bag of pill bottles.

I hope this year is not like that.
Fuck that noise. I'd demand to talk to someone in charge. Every year I expect to catch some shit fer my insulin and needles, and thankfully security is smart. But I am up and ready to make a dude's life miserable if they're givin' me any guff about what keeps me alive.

Yeah that's crazy. Isn't that kind of the point of Access? I would have been demanding to talk to somebody else too.

I can't speak to any official policy for sleeping inside Centeroo but can tell you my experiences. Last year after Paul I needed some sleep to be able to handle the late night (went 'til dawn with Pretty Lights!). I fell asleep on a picnic table near the comedy tent and was woken up by security a little while later. They told me "No sleeping in Centeroo." That was news to me because obviously people nap in there all day long. I figured it was because I was on the picnic table. I went to that giant shade canopy near comedy/cinema and went to sleep with a bunch of others doing likewise. The same two security guards came around after a bit delivering the same message of "No sleeping in Centeroo." It was annoying and almost ruined my whole late night experience because I was sapped of energy. Anyway, what I'm trying to say is I don't necessarily think they're going to let you sleep all night in Centeroo. This could be a new policy as I've night-napped there other years and never had a problem. It could've just been those two security guards or a rule of no napping in that general area. Again, I know nothing of the official policy. I remember for my first year a girl camped out all night at the comedy tent for Conan tickets. You could maybe try camp under the guise of something like that? Maybe try arrange with a vendor to sleep in their space? Best of luck in making it work!
Edit: I should also point out I couldn't have been mistaken for trying to sleep there all night. I had no pillow or blanket. Another thought is maybe this happened due to there being day tickets sold last year?

That's ridiculous. I can see maybe not sleeping on the picnic table; other people might want to use it, but under the canopy? The whole thing is there so that people can get rest and be away from the shade. This is the first I've heard of someone being told not to nap in Centeroo; hopefully it's not a new policy they plan on enforcing.

I've never slept overnight in Centeroo - I've taken many daytime naps in the shade beneath some of the trees - but I would imagine at a certain point in the early morning hours staff/security would try to wake you just to make sure you are OK.

^ Agreed Gab. Midnight is just when Late Night starts to kick off. How many times have Bisco (or other acts) played well into dawn? If it was 4-5. a.m. I could understand but at Bonnaroo, Midnight is still early for many!

That's weird! My husband and I both fell asleep under the big tree by This towards the end of the Superjam and R Kelly. As far as I can remember there weren't a lot of people asleep around us (because DUH WHO THE HELL FALLS ASLEEP DURING THAT!?) and we didn't run into any problems! I think it might just depend on where you are/how many people are around you and where security decides they want to spend their time at night. But major bummer for the heckling!
I believe it's been in more recent years that they discourage sleepin' in Centeroo, especially at night. I think it is mostly a safety precaution as y'know a few people have unfortunately died on The Farm due to variess causes.

If you pass out face-down, half naked, and sprawled out drooling like you got hit by a bus, they're going to wake you up for sure. But if you and a friend or two are clothed appropriately for the night and sit down and lean back under a tree you are less likely to be bothered. It makes sense that security is watching out for us, but you can definitely get some sleep inside Centeroo if you insist. I'd rather stumble back to camp and enjoy a few hours of relative comfort, but I kinda suck at sleeping already anyway.
