Am I the only person who finds CHVRCHES insanely overrated?, incredibly overplayed generic electro pop with boring uninteresting vocals. I don't get it at all.

Yes. Lauren Mayberry has a beautiful voice. And I don't see how they're overplayed at all, I've never heard them on the radio or anything?
Music is all personal preference tho. I can't stand Skrillex, even gave the new CD a painful solid listen straight through and I can't get into it. Obviously, Skrillex is ver popular. It's all subjective.

I'm with you. On a first listen of the Bonnaroo artists they registered as a band I'd probably enjoy, but then after actually sitting down and listening to more than one song at a time, I found them to be a bit bland.

I didn't mean that the band was overplayed, I meant that their sound is overplayed. Sorry, I should've clarified that.

The Bones of What you Believe was one of the best albums last year. I've watched 3 or 4 live streams of theirs and they've all been exciting. I finally get to see them live, and I'm pumped. The key is for them to play later on, anything before 7 will take away from their stage show. They need the lights to go with Mayberry's soft and sometimes sensual voice.

They are terrible. They are the poster of child of when electro-pop reached it's oversaturation point. F*ck that band.
i think chvrches are simply (relatively bland) pop music with a solid gimmick and intriguing-enough, crisp production. they will probably have a decent career. good for them. i really like the album because i'm a sucker for pop-done-well and pop that plays to the times tastefully. which i think sums up chvrches. i'm also looking forward to hearing the production live and loud.
that said. is it possible they're a thursday closer? and since the thursday closer is technically friday morning they put the 13th instead? i honestly don't see them anywhere else.

Every year its debated if bands are listing the actual day or a late night show that technically ended the previous night of music. Serious question: has there been a notable time where the band did list a late night friday show as saturday, saturday as sunday, thursday as friday?
This gets asked every year and my gut says band schedules typically dont work that way.

To my knowledge, it's never turned out that way. Any band doing friday late night will still list friday on their tour dates.

I remember in 2012 I was appalled they would have Bon Iver on Sunday (during the day) after their show looked so cool at night on the Coachella live stream. I was convinced it had to mean Saturday late night Which. Turns out I had no clue what I was talking about and they played a great show Sunday evening... I always remember that as a prime example.

In my defense, they were fifth on the bill and we knew Phish was Sunday. So it made ZERO sense to me that they'd be the pre-headliner for Phish. That was part of the logic. But still very wrong.
I don't buy it either. It's true the next 3 dates have specific dates listed but I'm assuming those fests are already giving their daily breakdown. Plus, he's playing 3 days in a row, so he can't be flexible on which day he plays each fest. Bonnaroo is the only thing he has going the previous weekend.
He's 28th on the lineup right now. Deerhunter was billed #33 (#32 if you don't count Lewis Black) and played Thursday 2011. Using Nashville venues as a guide, he played Marathon Music Works last week, so it seems reasonable. (On the other hand, so did Phoenix and Arctic Monkeys last October.) It would be more absurd for Jake Bugg to play Thursday (as some mocks have suggested) considering he just played the Ryman.

The James Blake show at MMW was canceled if I'm not mistaken. I don't think the logic of Ryman vs MMW works very well. Ryman caters to a certain type music most of the time.
I'm working on a mock that has Darkside and James Blake and a couple other electro-type acts in a tent on Saturday with Disclosure and Cut Copy LN. Didn't Capps say he wanted more of an electro tent in the future?

I debated this too. Last year, the electro/rap tent worked pretty well. There's a little less rap, but it's entirely possible they try something like this again. Going in a similar direction as Perry's/the Sahara.
With a name like Darkside they better not get a daytime set
SBTRKT'd
People keep comparing SBTRKT and Darkside. I honestly thought SBTRKT worked well in the day. I definitely think Darkside demands a night set more than SBTRKT did.

I agree. Darkside should play when it is... um... DARK. Just does't make any sense to have it otherwise, and it would be an epic crime against humanity if they were during the day. SBTRKT deserved a late night, but could work (and did) during the day. I won't say that Darkside not playing late-night would flat out ruin the show, but it would seriously diminish the atmosphere that they try to create.
