I would say that's a placeholder for Omar Souleyman, but he has NY gigs on Friday and Saturday and a show in Toronto a few days later. It's pretty weird for returning acts to play Thursday isn't it?
Also, Arctic Monkeys could just as easily play Sunday after their Saturday KY gig. Someone pointed out that White Denim is opening their June shows, but they booked a headlining club gig in Newport, KY on Sunday. Seems like something an act would do if their headliner was at a fest that day. On the other hand, it would probably make more logistical sense for both of them to play Friday.
Have we considered Arctic Mondays-> Kanye Friday (with Phoenix between on the Which) and Avett Brothers/Vampire Weekend/Elton Sunday (with NMH closing the Which)? Sundays have been pretty top-heavy in the past haven't they?
He's a minor name, could definitely see him playing Thursday and heading up north for the weekend. NXNE in Toronto starts that Tuesday I think.
Am I the only person who finds CHVRCHES insanely overrated?, incredibly overplayed generic electro pop with boring uninteresting vocals. I don't get it at all.
At Paul & broken bones Thursday. Just talked to the band at the show here. They're about to go on and they're all smoking in the back. Really nice guys! I'm here alone and a couple of them came up to me and started talking to me first. They're all dressed pretty snazzy so I asked if they were the band and then asked what day they were playing.
Also, after talking to the trombone player he said they're playing the 10 pm 2011 Alabama Shakes spot. He wasn't sure which tent tho, apparently they won't know that till closer to the event.

I think they played 2012 on thursday at that tent?

they closed This on Thursday post-Kendrick Lamar
I know this because somehow despite seeing Kendrick Lamar and wanting to see Alabama Shakes, I ended up dancing my ass off at Big Gigantic

Me too. It was my first fest, and while I enjoyed the daytime sets, it wasn't until I saw Big G playing at night, with all the rage sticks and glow toys and everything that I was like "Oh, this is what festivals are all about!" It was such a great night.
I know we've assumed it for a while but the confirmations of Deafheaven, Meshuggah, and Mastodon all playing Friday makes me happy. I just hope Deafheaven isn't at 11am or something.
3 back to back metal acts > Kanye > LN insanity could easily be the most intense festival day I've ever had.
So psyched for people to see Meshuggah who aren't familiar with them. If you love metal they will crush you. They will crush you!
