I was there in the pit with a bunch of you. Because of being so close and just the intense showmanship and energy she brought, this wins for my #1 show of Roo 2014.

I almost didn't go to this show, and I'm sooooooo glad I went. This woman really IS incredible live. runninglouisville has it absolutely right about her energy and showmanship.
I don't understand how she's not playing arenas at this point. Incredible songwriter. Incredible singer. Incredible performer. Incredible person.
She's something else, isn't she? This was the third time I've seen her and probably my least favorite set of hers of the three...and she was still fucking awesome.
I think the reason why Janelle hasn't really caught on yet is because she's a little too eccentric to get heavy airplay on Urban and Rhythmic and Alt radio and AAA won't seem to touch her. It's a shame because she makes excellent music and sells it perfectly in a live setting. The ArchAndroid remains pretty close to flawless for me and The Electric Lady was a solid and accessible follow-up. She's certainly earning the respect of her peers and music lovers even if she isn't lighting up the charts.

I've seen her live twice, seen her talk once, and watched the live stream from Bonnaroo. It's amazing how her energy can travel through something like a video stream. I was getting into it. She's just all-around incredible.

I was surprised that no one seemed to care about the pit for this. I walked right in as they were initially letting the line into the pit and it was not even a quarter full. Second time seeing her, and it was far more energizing seeing all her moves up close.

I don't think many people understand whats up with the pit. I got in almost any time I wanted. Getting in for Janelle, Damon, and Chromeo was so easy and vaulted my weekend to another level.

Only issue I had was for Kanye. The Jack White line was long and people waited a while too so that may have been tough but I didn't try. Got in for Seasick Steve, Damon Albarn, The Avett Brothers, and Umphrey's really easily.

Pit seemed a lot less organized this year, at least for the Which Stage. My friends and I got in line for Cake around noon, and instead of separating it into lines by band like they do at the main stage it was just all one big line for Cake and Cage the Elephant. The staff didn't separate it until they were ready to actually let people into the pit. I couldn't tell you how many times someone tried to start a line for Cage the Elephant when there were probably already 100+ Cage the Elephant people waiting in the line already.
And for what it's worth, I actually wasn't able to get pit for Arctic Monkeys. Maybe people had it figured out by then.

Arctic Monkeys crowd was enormous. I was trying to get over to the What stage while that crowd was leaving and it was impossible to go against the current.

I mentioned elsewhere my 17 yo brother was trampled (for like a full minute with no attempts to be helped apparently) and left out after we waited 3 hrs and clearly were on our way in (I made it). Other than that bullshit I had no issue. Didn't try for Jack because of that story for Kanye.

Janelle was absolutely amazing. That was my first time seeing her and I could not take my eyes off her or keep my jaw off my chest. What an unbelievable performer. I will not miss any future chances to see her.

This. I came into this show knowing next to nothing about her except that inforoo peeps were insisting it was a must see. so sad I didn't run up to the pit rather than watching from midfield. Won't make that mistake again.
Bahahaha thanks for showing my ginormous mouth there lol
I am SO HAPPY I was in the pit with you guys. This was most definitely my absolute favorite show of the weekend! Sorry to those I kept smacking out of excitement
