Yes, believe it or not, it is not spelled DEAFHEAVEN.
Deafheaven is an American Black Metal group that will be at Bonnaroo this year.
Their music is a mixture of metal, shoegaze, and post-rock, when combined makes a thing of beauty.
Here you can listen to the full version of their most recent album, Sunbather. A critical darling that appeared at the top of several year-end Album of the Year lists (Including my own)
Here is a video of them performing my favorite song by them, Dream House

I've seen them twice, once last summer (3 hour drive), and 2 years ago opening for Russian Circles. Great band, very tight and cohesive. The new drummer(plays the material from the last album well too), rhythm guitarist and bassist are even better. They've stuck to playing 3-4 songs each time I've seen them, but that came to 30 and 60 minutes respectively so nbd. Here's two of my favorite songs from the last album:

I'm really enjoying their instrumentation, but I'm not a huge fan of the all screaming vocals. I'd almost rather them be purely instrumental with no vocals. I have kept coming back to listen more the past few days though, so maybe it will just take some to get used to it.

Just give the vocals time, I liked them at first, but now I love them. I feel like they really match the emotion of the instrumentation

I really agree with you here. The instrumentation is full of bleakness and depression. The vocals, on the other hand, are full of anger. That anger is just a result of the bleakness and depression of the music. So, it really is a good match of emotions. At least that is how I see it.

Exactly how I would describe both of them, good man
Emoney serves more of a purpose than any of you, especially Nate, whose incessant, garbled ramblings are so mindless and pointless that I get depressed just seeing them.
Seriously considering forgoing a ride to Bonnaroo just to see this show In Richmond. It would mean an all night drive all by my lonesome, but you know .. metal.

That's a tough call, but I'd personally wait til the schedule is released. That way you can see potential conflicts and if they add Pallbearer or not. If they don't pick up Pallbearer and there's some stiff competition for your time during Deafheaven, then hell ya, make that drive by yourself!

They are playing at a little bar in Miami the day after Roo, so I won't be making it, I'm beyond pissed about that
My wife (who doesn't like metal) just said "It's not bad, it's not real heavy" when I asked her if she's ready to see them at roo, while I am playing the vinyl(I thought it was going to be an emphatic no). I win!
