Yes, The Dead are from SF. The thesis of this discussion was whether The Dead holds a grudge against Bonnaroo, which would logically be a grudge against the promoters of Bonnaroo rather than the farm itself. Your last sentence is rational.
If you listen to the archive.org stream of the show Phil was at least irritated, he did not say anything about never coming back. That being said it is pretty glaring that we are five years without a member back at this point.

Phil put on a better show that year for sure. Also the odds of Kanye being back solo are pretty low, no matter how much it makes people cry in their beer.
Also, you manage to argue both sides of the "Phil Lesh ended his set early because of Kanye" argument, which is impressive:
Lesh wasn't ruined. The set was amazing. Sure, it ended a little bit earlier than it should have.....but to say it was ruined is silly talk. I had a great time at Phil's set. Jackie Greene is awesome.
Maybe my math is wrong but according to archive he played for over 3 hours with no setbreak. This actually makes it the longest Phil show I have ever heard of. I really wish people would stop acting like he got off the stage early. He does mention KAnye starting in the donor rap, but I doubt Phil was gonna play until 4:00am. His set at AllGood that year as a headliner was only two hours.
1. Kanye didn't want his set moved because he didn't want to open for anyone. He wanted his show to be when it was dark. 2. There is no proof Phil Lesh ended his set early because of Kanye.
