I bought my ticket on a whim. I'm definitely going but, my car has almost 180k miles. am I nuts? It's almost 2,000 miles from where I live in NH to 'roo I'm starting to get nervous! I have 4 passengers coming along in my car.

The girl I was neighbors at my last Bonnaroo was from Vermont and she had been all over the country following Phish for years in this Taurus. She had "just gotten to Bonnaroo from Colorado". I don't remember the exact number but I she was talking about how she couldn't believe that the car hasn't croaked.
I wouldn't take to the road from Michigan with 180,000, does your car have any other problems?
it depends on if your car has been giving you alot of crap recently.. if yes, then you should go and drive it into the ground, if no, then you should go and see if it gets you there and back.
I'm going to echo the last comment - if the car has been giving you lots of little problems of late you might want to reconsider. On the other hand, if it has been faithful to you then give it a shot. Do the oil change and have a mechanic you trust give it a once over (good tires, radiator working, etc. goes a long way on a straight 2K trip). If you look at the numbers another 2K miles on your car is less than one percent of its life so far....
Don't worry, there is good karma when you are headed to roo.

That is exactly what I am doing... leaving from Michigan (your neck of the woods as a matter of fact) in my car with 180,000 miles on it... of course, in the past year, I have probably added about 50,000 of those and I know all the ups and downs of my vehicle so I trust it.

my first car was a 1984 toyota "pick up". it was a beast. regular oil changes helped to reach 254,000 miles before the trans went. the engine was still runnin fine tho. and i drove it in the ground
yeah, I'm just gonna go an do it! After Bonnaroo I'm going to Cincinnati for Ani Difranco on the 21st then to Michigan to pick my niece for the summer. I planned in my budget to get new tires and an oil change before I head out. that should do it. It's a good car.

Do all us Michigander's drive old cars? I'm coming down in a '95 Neon with 155K miles on it. I trust it but if it dies I'm leaving it behind and flying home. Life's easier when you travel alone.
My car's not that old, but he's getting up there in miles. My red 2002 Explorer, named "Lewis" because we pretty much drove it off the dealership lot, and out west to Yellowstone & the Grand Tetons. By the time we get to Manchester, he'll have broken the 70K mark.
