Anyone plan on heading to The Ville this Spring? I'm not a huge Ekoostik Hookah fan, but they are alright. I do like Tropidelic though. Not a whole lot else on the lineup right now but it might be a good time, and there certainly should be a few additions.
The big plus side for me is that the fest is 45 minutes from my house. Anyone care to share opinions on Clay's Park? I haven't been there before, but some coworkers have gone for a country festival and said it was cool. Of course they were blasted on vodka and Bush Light the whole time, so who knows. But for $60 pre-sale, +$20 for VIP (camp in shade, with car), $5 parking, and the close proximity to home I might have to try this out.
We're all a mess of paradoxes. Believing in things we know can't be true. We walk around carrying feelings too complicated and contradictory to express. But when it all becomes too big, and words aren't enough to help get it all out, there's always music.
I've heard good things about Clay's Park, but i've never been myself. I do like me some Hookah..... and I am off for my primary that weekend..... but damn, there really isn't anyone on that line up besides EH & Tropidelic.. Blue Moon Soup is ok, i guess.. Which is sad, I feel like since they got the boot (or "split ways") with Legend Valley and Hookah In the Hills their Hookahville line ups have seriously gone down. Damn shame. I don't think I'm going to do this. I just don't have the money to spend on such a mediocre line up. I'll be doing the Werk Out in September though, that is a decent line up.

From 2003-2009 I didn't miss a spring or fall Hookahville, but the fest has fallen on hard times, lineup wise. I have a lot of friends who went to Clay Park last fall, and they spoke highly of the venue. That written, with the cold temps, I have to think one of the venue's biggest selling points, the swimming lake, many not be too hospitable unless we get a ton of sun and warmer temps between now and the fest. Personally, I'm hitting the Dark Star Jubilee. It's closer to me, and the lineup is a ton better.
I considered Dark Star... but I really shouldn't do a fest so close to roo, I just don't have the funds. I also considered Nelsonville, but am passing for the same reason.

It's kinda crazy: Ohio used to be known for Hookahville on Memorial Day weekend, and that was one of the few festival offerings, but now the schedule is packed around that weekend. There's also the bluegrass-centric Duck Creek Log Jam that weekend, if I'm not mistaken, near Logan. It's getting bigger and bigger.

i've never heard of that one.. but I agree. Hookahvilles memorial day & labor day weekend used to seem like the only festival options here outside of what NLQP offered. Now there are soooo many festivals around those weekends and throughout the summer. Even Columbus is throwing the new "Fashion Meets Music Festival" on labor day weekend downtown.

Yeah, the lineup is pretty weak. I was hoping to see some additions by now, but nope. I might go anyway just because it is so close to home and pretty cheap. 2-3 nights of camping an hour from home doesn't entail a lot of preparation or added expenses for me, and as of right now I'm dying to get away and outside for a weekend. And unfortunately there isn't a local/not-too-far festival scene to speak of, other than at NLQP, which has sadly become infested with hard drugs, dangerous people, and drug busts. So I don't know yet, but a weekend with Hookah might still be a good time.
Man, I just need to bite the bullet and move to Nashville, Austin or Seattle or something. The NE Ohio climate is killing my soul and the music scene isn't exactly world class at the moment, to put it nicely. Hmm...

Duck Creek is a good time. Small, low key. We really enjoyed it for their fall fest.

I thought NLQP was getting better? I used to go there in the early to mid 2000s, and it was heaven, at least to me. Then, I was there for some of the festivals where they started cracking down and you felt like you couldn't trust your neighbor, a huge contrast to the earlier days. But I thought/hoped after some of the crackdowns things had gotten better. If not, that's sad. That place used to be the best, particularly in the summer when you could float around the quarry and jump off the cliff/island and everyone camped in the woods was so friendly.

Hmm, I don't know really. It had a great reputation before that (90's), then it got bad, and I haven't gone there in quite a few years. Maybe it has gotten better, but I admit I haven't been there in so long that I don't know. Heck, I'm not far from there and shows are usually cheap so maybe I'll give it another try. It sure would be nice if it were safe, friendly, and fun there again, because it really is a unique place that can be a blast.
