I saw his first US show the other night. It was fun and his new music was decent, but much heavier on the ballads than I was expecting. You should be able to find plenty of stuff on YouTube because everyone in the audience recorded every song, which got old.
i'm not surprised by this. he's a vocalist. he excels when he can just let loose on a track. dance heavy tracks would limit this. Does he play any instruments at all? I haven't seen a video of him doing anything other than singing.

Finally watched the SNL episode after WalkingDead, Sam Smith was incredible. That voice is something special, he didn't have much stage presence but it definitely struck my soul. He has moved into my must see for sure!

I thought it was so adorable how he would look down and smile at the end of every song. He was blushing so bad after the first one, you could tell he's still adjusting to this oncoming fame & attention. I'm happy he did "lay me down," that's my favorite. I agree with the stage presence, but how much can you really do during a slow song?
new video, guys! not sure how to actually get the video in here, so i'll just leave a link. i'm fully prepared for an entire hour of goosebumps. vevo.ly/IhVXAY

I'm debating between Dr. Dog and Sam Smith. I've seen Dr. Dog, and really enjoy them. But, even in the VIP pit, the Which Stage during the day can be brutal.
Considering I'll already be at this tent since St. Paul and the Broken Bones are playing beforehand, it's probably easiest to just hang out and wait for Sam's British Buns.
What a good dude. Humble, honest, and years ahead of him to make wonderful music. Can't wait to see him again at the Ryman! Bonnaroo '14 was his: -1st festival -2nd largest crowd -Largest crowd in America
