I have managed to win day tickets on the radio here in Boone for the past 2 years. Its a family atmosphere festival on a community college campus, bummer for me is you can't smoke cigs. Other than that its a lot of awesome bluegrass and badass players doing some serious work. There is a strict code for people claiming a spot with your chairs, whether you're there or not. So people set up their chairs and put a blanket over them, leave for hours!!! then come back. I think its kind of messed up.. but its a completely different experience than bonnaroo. Like I said Merle fest is family friendly, NO Smoking!!!
