If this is completely stupid or covered elsewhere please move/lock it....
Is there a website/template/method to objectively compare lineups? Obviously Coachella's daily breakdown makes it difficult to compare, but even the way Bonnaroo and Lollapalooza's websites are formatted makes a simple comparison difficult. Not to mention Sasquatch, Hangout, Firefly, GovBall, etc etc etc
This is the first message board I've ever been on, the only reason I joined is because I love Bonnaroo and wanted to read and talk about it all year long.
Emoney serves more of a purpose than any of you, especially Nate, whose incessant, garbled ramblings are so mindless and pointless that I get depressed just seeing them.
10. America: A Tribute to Heroes 2001 - Neil Young, Bruce Springsteen, Stevie Wonder, U2
9. Bonnaroo 2009 - Bruce Springsteen, Elvis Costello, Public Enemy, Beastie Boys, David Byrne
8. Tibetan Freedom 1997 - U2, Radiohead, Beastie Boys, Sonic Youth, Michael Stipe/Mike Mills, Patti Smith, Pavement, Bjork
7. Concert for NYC 2001 - David Bowie, Paul McCartney, Mick Jagger/Keith Richards, The Who, Eric Clapton
6. Live 8 (London) 2005 - Paul McCartney, Pink Floyd, U2, The Who, REM, Madonna
5. Live Aid (London) 1985 - David Bowie, Paul McCartney, The Who, Elvis Costello, David Gilmour
4. Glastonbury 2013 - The Rolling Stones, Elvis Costello, Public Enemy, Portishead, Vampire Weekend, Primal Scream, Johnny Marr, The Family Stone
3. 12-12-12 Sandy Benefit 2012 - The Rolling Stones, Paul McCartney, Bruce Springsteen, The Who, Roger Waters, Kanye West
2. Rock & Roll Hall of Fame 25th Anniversary 2009 - Mick Jagger, Bruce Springsteen, Stevie Wonder, U2, Lou Reed, Aretha Franklin, Simon & Garfunkel, Patti Smith
1. Live Aid (New York) 1985 - Bob Dylan, Neil Young, Led Zeppelin, Mick Jagger, The Beach Boys, Black Sabbath, Eric Clapton
**Note: If all the comprising Live Aid / Live 8 locations were combined to represent one unified event they would rank 1 and 2 respectively. Live 8 also featured Neil Young in Toronto, Stevie Wonder in Philadelphia, Roxy Music & Brian Wilson in Berlin, James Brown in Edinburgh, and Bjork in Tokyo.
Of course it's subjective to my own tastes but here's a historic listing for festival lineups that have exceeded 500 points using my scoring:
Interested
Essentially artist earn a points value based on how many albums/singles I have for them in my music library. I also give a bonus for albums/songs that have come out in the last 5 years. It's something that's evolved through the years but I originally created to rank my favorite artists/determine how much I would be willing to pay to see them in concert. Once I've seen an act though I will only pay half the original points amount to see them perform again. A listing of my artists with 100 or more points individually:

i like your scale more than I thought. But shouldn't you remove those that are "removed" themselves? Unless this is a fantasy festival lineup those deceased are obviously not in the competition.

Here is CoS's power ranking of the festivals so far. Nice to see they gave some of the smaller festivals some love. I wish they went more in-depth about why Bonnaroo is their top pick besides Kanye,Skrillix, and Elton John. At least they couldn't bring themselves to put Lollapalooza in their top 10.
Yeah I commented the same thing on the article. They did this big thing for Coachella and then for their top 2 festivals they narrowed it down to a couple of artists (or 1 in Gov's Ball's case).
Edited my post to make Coachella number one, the add of the Pixies and Julian Casablancas pushed it over the top
Those are both solid adds which advances Coachella ahead of Jazzfest in my rankings but still can't hang with Bonnaroo & Glasto IMHO. Also, Outside Lands is solid but not major so they landed in between Forecastle & Pitchfork for me.
