You're voluntarily going to see Twista. You really don't have a leg to stand on here.
Twista is dope, Deafheaven is dung. I wanna know what the hell the singer is screaming about? To be honest, the band is pretty good, it's the guy screaming that sucks.
The band is two people in the studio, the "screaming guy" and his best friend, they're both insanely talented

Your views on everything are pretty much terrible. "Twista is dope" said nobody, ever.
Apparently you've never been to Chicago. Plenty of people love Twista here, including Kanye West. Even when I lived in Tennessee, Memphis and Nashville, he was popular. Maybe you just like bands where the guy screams like an idiot, that's talent right there.

Why does he scream? I don't see the talent in that. I'm sure some people like it, hell, some people like getting pissed on too.
Having seen 2 out of the 3 (and having no real desire to see Meshuggah), Deafheaven is the way to go. Mastodon is decent, at best, live. I'll go, but I'm not expecting much.

Will you go with me to Meshuggah? I need someone to deflect the face punch.

Ah yes, the old "people like this act so that must be evidence that they're worth a damn." Twista is terrible, Deafheaven is great, get over it, your argument is poor.

Sure, I'm game. I Have a bunch of upcoming dental work that I'm not looking forward too. If anything, that might save me some cash.
RJ saying that Deafheaven recorded with just a two-man duo (false). GL saying that Mastodon is "decent at best" live (false). And everything Beavdog has thought or posted in regards to this thread.

Let's see, Twista had an album go platinum in 2 months. Let me know when Deafheaven, or any of the bands listed in this thread, have an album go gold, period.

I forgot how terrible you are.
First, in case you've just never paid attention to me, I am a rather massive hip-hop fan. Hip-hop and metal are both great, the >/< stuff is an idiotic game for an adult to play. How old do you think I am, for the record?
"Going platinum" is now a measure for quality? You want to take that one back? Or do you want me to start listing every horse shit, brain-breakingly bad artist to ever go platinum?

In the five times that I've seen them it's gotten less memorable each time. I'm not saying it's horrible, but where it used to be a "must see", not so much anymore.

"Decent at best," GL. Downgrading from a "must see" doesn't mean you're just some "meh" performance.

Nice logic.
I'm going to go out on a limb and hazard a guess that you've nonironically worn a fedora at some point in your life.

Hip hop and metal can both be great, of course it's all personal preference. The >/< stuff was me being sarcastic. I'd guess you're in your mid 30's?
As for the whole record sales stat, to argue a point that nobody thinks that Twista is "dope" would be incorrect considering the guy sold over a million albums in two months. So obviously if somebody argues that A is better than B, there's no way to prove or disprove it because it's totally subjective. You can however argue who's had a better career or who's been more popular according to record sales.
As far as Twista goes, I do think he's "dope". It's partially because he's a very popular rapper from my hometown, and partially I think some of his stuff is good, especially when he collaborates with other artists. "Slow Jamz" and "Is That Your Chick" are both really good. I, like most hip hop fans from Chicago ages 30 and up, listened to Twista when he was underground and went by the name Tung Twista. There were a lot of underground mix tapes that were very popular here that he was a part of. It's kind of like the whole "house" music thing here, it's part of the culture. By no means do I think Twista is a great artist, but he is a legend here. "Adrenaline Rush" will go down as one of the most popular hip hop songs of all time in Chicago. Personally, I thought "Kamikaze" was a decent album and had some pretty good tracks. Again, he's no Jay Z or Rakim, but he's definitely not terrible.
As for me going to see Twista, he's performing at a bar/venue less than a block from my house. Of course I'm gonna walk over to check him out. It's gonna be a fun nostalgic show especially since I'll be with a bunch of high school friends who grew up listening to him.

I'm just happy Bonnaroo is consistently booking a few metal bands each year. That's more than can be said for Lollapalooza or Coachella, and one of the reasons I'm not interested in either of those festivals.

I am not in my mid-30's.
Stop saying dope, and don't put it in quotes like that. You come off like an asshole. "Slow Jamz" is not a Twista song. It's a Kanye song that Twista is a featured artist on. Do refer to "California Love" as a Dr. Dre song? Do you refer to "The What" as a Method Man song? No. Because that's dumb. You're knowingly doing a dumb thing for some reason.
As far as his ability goes, Twista deserves respect for having a long career in hip-hop and being one of the best at the fast-rap thing. But he's no Busta. Paying money to see Twista is not dope. It makes you a dope, though.
And, again, WHAT THE FUCK DOES THIS HAVE TO DO WITH METAL? As a hip-hop fan and a metal fan, I cast you out of both circles. Now go rot in an abyss of middling hip-hop and logical fallacies.

Slow Jamz is a Twista song featuring Kanye. Kanye produced the song, but it's a Twista song.
As for me spending money on seeing Twista live, what the fuck do you care? Your the dope for even commenting on me paying to see him. I'm sure their are plenty of things that you spend money on that I would think is dumb, who gives a shit.
For the reason why Twista was mentioned at all was the fact that foxandhound brought up me going to see Twista. Since it was brought up in this thread I responded to it in this thread. I originally responded to the initial poll question and gave my reason behind my vote. Some people got their panties in a bunch because I gave my opinion of Deafheaven.

Look at Johnny High School over here.
I have a hand full of friends from high school that I'm pretty close with, what's your point, chief?

Why are you even in this thread?
This is the eternal question with the beavdog. He hates pop music, so he visits the pop thread and starts pissing around. He dislikes metal, so he decides he should, once again, voice his opinion on music he knows little about and has a distaste for. Then he wonders why people get mad at him and starts throwing things screaming that "it's just my opinion!" Peace out.

I forgot they did this, but it's also on College Dropout so it's like they shared it. Either way, you suck.

A. I don't dislike the entirety of any genre of music. B. I was merely giving my opinion on why I voted for Mastodon over the other two bands. C. I didn't know I had to be an expert on Metal to vote in this poll. D. If people get mad at me because I voice my opinion on a music message board, they need to get a new hobby or anger management.
