Okay, so let me just start off that I am planning on attending Bonnaroo with three of my friends. We are all in high school. When I presented my mom with the idea, I was surprised she agreed to let us go. But she had one condition: that she drives us down, and that we aren't allowed to camp. I know, I know, camping is part of the whole experience but I am just happy that I have the opportunity to go. I plan on camping in the future once I am older. Our plan is that we will stay in one of the nearby hotels and every night once the music is done, my mom will pick us up and we will return to the hotel. Similar idea to the whole shuttle, but much less money. Plus my mom is planning on using some free hotel nights to get the hotel. Anyways, my question is, where can she pick us up and drop us off everyday, since she doesn't have a ticket? I know this may sound like a really dumb idea, but it is the only way I will get to go. Since I am new to Bonnaroo, I would really appreciate some advice. Thanks!
You're going to want to hit one of the toll booths on the left side of the map. Never left/re-entered Bonnaroo during the festival before, so IDK what's allowed.
It's not a dumb idea. Your mom is being responsible. I am in my 30s and my first experience at Roo last year was overwhelming! You are going to get see some amazing live music and have an amazing time and then when you do camp in the future you will have a better idea of what to expect. I just wanted to say that...someone else will have to answer the question of where to get picked up. Have a great time!
I know you're allowed to enter/exit every day. Other people go the hotel route as well. I'm pretty sure that there is a parking lot near the West tollbooth (the top left corner of the map). But idk what the deal is with the broadway tollbooth, which would be much more convenient for someone in your situation b/c of the shorter walk from centeroo.
Would she be able to pick us up and drop us off at the tollbooth off of the highway every morning and night? Would it be very busy?
I think the tollbooth from exit 11 will be the easiest place from the highway for pick up/drop off but you'll have a walk ahead of you. Perhaps you could think about camping with your mom in the KOA campground that way you'd be close and still get to camp near other Bonnaroovians and enter into the main venue each day. Even if you still stay in a hotel you may be able to use the KOA entrance.

I am definitely fine with this plan my mom has. After all, I can shower every night and I will feel much safer. I appreciate all of the help and advice. I will probably try getting dropped off/picked up at the Broadway tollbooth. I emailed info@bonnaroo.com, but I am not sure they will reply with much direction. If anyone else has any further advice or has done this in the past, please let me know!

The West tollbooth near day parking (top of the map). It's the Beans Creek Winery exit of the highway. We did day parking for a few years and that is where we entered and exited. It was never busy when we came in or out. She would just need to pull into the area before the tolls and drop you, turn around and go back out. I can't see it would be a hassle.

Thank you so much! Another question, how far would the walk be from Centroo to the West tollbooth by Day Parking?

It's about a 15 minute walk. We would often grab a golf cart cab ($5 each) to Centeroo if it was super hot and we were feeling lazy. You just flag down a golf cart

Agree, I was in my mid 40's and was blown away.
Camping is part of the experience but high school is pretty young to do it, there's plenty of time to camp in college and beyond. When I look back at my high school friends, I can see more than one of them finding a way to get in over their heads.

Congrats on deciding to embark on one of the greatest experiences of your life. But is your mom really going to pick you up at 5AM? The music doesn't stop at midnight, just so you know. And if she is planning on booking a hotel right in or just around Manchester they will likely have that week blacked out for freebies and points purchases, I'm guessing, and their rates will be sky high if you haven't booked already. Murfreesboro would be a reasonable option, though be aware that it is a bit farther than your mom might want to be driving at night, or maybe not, just something to think about. And as suggested, check the map, as you'll probably want to use the West tollbooth to enter and exit.
Somebody else can probably help with this: does the makeshift highway tollbooth close after peak arrival time, or after Thursday? Can it be used for drop-offs and pick-ups? I think you may have to use a regular interstate exit and the West tollbooth, for some reason. Can minors get in without an adult entering?
Good luck, and be sure to bring water, re-use your water bottles, or bring a hydration pack, sunscreen, and comfortable walking shoes, since you are probably going to be spending a LOT of time in the sun and walking and standing all day. Read up around here, and we'll see ya on the farm.
Good luck on your first Bonnaroo experience. Plan on having a life changing experience, really!
On hotels, if you don't already have a hotel booked for the weekend, forget it! You will not find a hotel in Manchester for Roo weekend. Heck, you might have a hard time finding a room right now for 2015 roo. Start checking NOW for hotels in Monteagle, Murfreesboro, Tullahoma, Winchester, McMinnville all the surrounding towns. You may find them full as well (This may be your chance to get mom to camp with you)
Dropping off and picking up shouldn't be too much of a hassle after Thursday. Most of the traffic influxes into the site throughout Wednesday night/early Thursday morning. After that it is pretty easy to get in and out, but there are checkpoints on both Bushy Branch road entrances that you can not pass without a wristband. Your mother will not be able to pass these points if she doesn't have a wristband. It is at the corner of Bushy Branch and Shedd on the East side and just before the toll booths on the West side. I wouldn't advise using the I-24 entrance as that is right on the interstate. If you're not opposed to walking a bit, I suggest having her meet you at Bean's Creek Winery.
I wish the best of luck on your first Roo and hope you have a blast! Good luck finding a hotel. Remember, stay hydrated!!!!

I'm fairly certain that the highway tollbooth closes sometime Friday (I've always used it on Thursday, but it looked like cars were still coming through early Friday from there). I wouldn't recommend having someone's mom come and pick them up every night by way of riding a shoulder and looking for a hidden exit. I'd recommend the vineyard entrance, since that's the one near day parking.
And yeah, you should really have a hotel room by now. Anything within 20 miles or so of Manchester is probably already booked up solid, and the unsold rooms are at a premium.
Major props for making the trip while still in high school. And even bigger props for adhering to momma bear's rules for going. I can't help but feel like a lot of the youths these days would fight tooth and nail to camp. I didn't come to my first Roo till I was 22, and even then I just barely survived camping.

Like the others have stated, if she has not already booked a hotel, prepare for a LONG (and I mean LONG) drive ahead of you to a hotel. Prices also may be a little jacked up considering Bonnaroo is going on as well. Good luck and keep reading good stuff on this board. It will help prepare you!

if this is crazy, then ignore the suggestion, but why don't you get your mom to attend as well? I mean it would be a lot easier on her and on you. I know you like the idea of a hotel, however roo offers tent camping that is near centeroo, but has security and the tents look fairly huge next to a regular tent. besides, what is she going to do all day until its time to get you?? just an idea, you know better than anyone what your mom would go for. anyway, welcome, enjoy & have fun!!!
