Like the thread says. I've got plenty of acts to see starting in the evening, but don't know most of the acts playing earlier in the day. And I know I'm not alone in this. Let's hear some suggestions, maybe with some descriptions, maybe with some Youtube clips.

^^ Not the point of this thread. Yes, there are write-ups elsewhere. I just want some basic recommendations, maybe some clips of songs from people who are already fans of the bands in question. I could go ahead and just start reading about all the 40+ bands playing day slots, but I'd honestly run out of attention and peter off after a dozen or so and/or pass over some good acts based off one impression. This is a common issue for people, so I made a thread about it.
I'll go first with Okkervil River. These guys make pretty basic low-key rock, but with some really strong songwriting. "Lost Coastlines" is a great song to start with, and apparently they play it live pretty regularly:

Also, don't forget about comedy and movies. The cinema tent has had some awesome movies and performances (both comedic and musical) during the day that you won't get anywhere else.

Seasick Steve is a good one, he's currently (we're guessing) at the same time as King Kahn, who is significantly different, but a load of fun if Steve doesn't do it for you. Also take a look at Warpaint, they got strong reviews at both SXSW and Coachella.

High & Might Brass Band! I've also seen and enjoyed Capital Cities & Fits. Jesioneka made a good point that we saw them on tour together last fall and they might come on stage with one another too!

Wasn't familiar with them before, but they look like they put on a fun show, looks like I know howw to kick off my Saturday now, thank you.
Welcome back Bonz, but I do not find it strange that your presence being requested in the Orgy thread and then you showing up, like it was the quacking Bonzai Bat Signal.

I love Okkervil River, but they're playing at the same time as Goat. Goat wins.

There is a serious lack of love for King Khan in here, which is fine. I'll probably be too hungover to want to stand in a big crowd Saturday morning anyway.

If you're into the funk at all, Big Sam's Funky Nation is a killer New Orlean's style jazzy funk. It's not the type of thing I'll listen to at home on my stereo but it's a great time live
