The plan earlier this year was to take my little brother along with me to Bonnaroo this year. It would be my fourth, his first, and a gift from me for graduating high school this year. Unfortunately due to the terrible winter weather, they had so many make-up days they ended up pushing his graduation back a week -- right to the Friday of Kanye.
But he still wants to go, and I'm fine with that. The plan is to do graduation Friday, leave NC early in the morning on Saturday to get there at noon, Roo all day and night, sleep in the car, and go to sunday shows.
This is foreign territory, though. I've always rolled in on Wednesdays, so is it even possible to show up and get a "camping" spot on Saturday? Are the main gates open? Any advice?

Well, only going 2 days will mean you only have to trek in from that bad spot half as many times! Silver lining?
Also if you're going to sleep in your car, you won't need too much camping space, I'm sure they'll find somewhere to put you. You may even get a really sweet spot! I've noticed they fill the space right next to the Other tent fairly late in the game.
You sound like a really cool older brother. I think you guys will have a great time, even if only for 2 days

In 2012 I couldn't get there 'til Friday morning and wound up with an amazing parking spot with a less than five minute walk to the scanners. On Saturday some people were parked by me who were only there for the day to see RHCP. Not saying this is typical or anything but maybe your spot won't be too shitty. And definitely still go. I can't even imagine the joy of graduating high school then jumping into a fest the next day. Welcome to the cool part of early adulthood.
Totally doable, just accept that you might end up in BFE.
OR, graduation ceremonies are lame, your brother could just skip it and catch all of Bonnaroo instead.
Graduation Ceremony vs Kanye's triumphant return to Bonnaroo, kanye wins everytime for me.
My parents/grandparents would have had my head if I didn't go to graduation. That might be out of their control, even if they wanted to skip town early.

My older, possibly jaded self thought this (not specifically Kanye, though). I couldn't begin to tell you who was at graduation party or what went on during the ceremony, but I still recall vivid details of my graduation vacation gift

My family would not let me go to roo in '02 because they wanted me to take part in my hs graduation ceremony. They know now it was the wrong decision for me as I have never let them forget it. The camping options might not be the greatest, but they may not be terrible either.
Totally doable. You would not likely be parked in BFE (007 camps/POD 1), but more likely Super BFE in PODs 10 or 11. You might get lucky and get parked closer as others have said as well.

Thanks, guys!
Let him do his graduation and follow the plan you have. Hell with it being his first 2 days might be enough anyway. Sending good camping mojo!

Agree here. In 2012 I saw people rolling up Saturday night just in time for Skrillex (swear to god) and getting spots right by the Other Tent. Your spot probably won't be that bad, and it won't really matter anyway since you'll likely be maximizing your time spent inside the fest.
last year a friend of ours didn't get off work until late friday, and rolled in on saturday morning. she camped with us, so it didn't matter, but they ended up just having her park her car in the handicap access area since it wasn't full.
