Some very cool stuff this year (as usual).
Interactive:
- Bonnaroo shines the spotlight on the legendary Harry Shearer with a live onstage conversation, known as ‘Derek Smalls’ from Spinal Tap and for his groundbreaking voice-over work on The Simpsons,
- Comedy Central Presents Drunk History Live with Derek Waters & Friends
- Get into the action with Point Break Live! and Terminator Too: Judgment Play, two interactive theatrical experiences
- The Alamo Drafthouse presents four special interactive events hosted by Henri Mazza. First up is the Pulp Fiction 20th Anniversary Quote-Along. Join the fun with the Jack Rabbit Slim’s Dance Contest and then shout out your favorite lines as we screen Tarantino’s classic. Returning for the third year running is the wildly popular R. Kelly masterpiece, the Trapped in the Closet Sing-Along. Tired of listening to other people sing and want to get in on the action yourself? Join in for the Big Screen Yacht Rock Smooth Jamz Karaoke Party. Finally, we’ll celebrate the musical genius of the King of Pop with the Michael Jackson Sing-Along Party.
Music & The Movies
- Time is Illmatic is the new documentary about hip-hop superstar Nas, who rocked Bonnaroo last year.
- Iconoclastic guitarist and composer Marc Ribot will perform his score to Charlie Chaplin’s The Kid,
- Hard Working Americans: The First Waltz
- The Other One: The Long Strange Trip of Bob Weir
Movies/Classic Comedy
- David Wain (co-creator of The State and Stella and director of Wet Hot American Summer and Role Models) brings his latest cinematic creation They Came Together,
- The comedic genius of the late great Harold Ramis will be celebrated with late night screenings of three of his classic hits Ghostbusters (30th Anniversary!), Caddyshack and Groundhog Day.
We never close. Come hang with us in the wee hours as we screen some of our favorite comedies and cult classics including The NeverEnding Story (30th Anniversary!), the original Friday the 13th (screened late night on Friday the 13th!), The Warriors (35th Anniversary!), Bill and Ted’s Excellent Adventure (25th Anniversary!), Road House (25th Anniversary!), Revenge of the Nerds (30th Anniversary!) and The Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai Across The 8th Dimension (30th Anniversary!).
Also: The Bonnaroo Cinema would not be complete without rowdy live presentations of the NBA Finals. Come root for your favorite team in the air-conditioned comfort of the cinema.
Cinema tent is awesome. Defintely worth checking out if you have downtime and nothing else you want to do.
It seems like there is a lot of awesome stuff going on in there, but sadly I'm sure there will be artists I want to see during most of that stuff.
Yea, it's tough to catch the good stuff. I think the R. Kelly singalong looks like it's scheduled for Late night Thursday which may work depending on how crowded it is and if bands are still going.

Whoa! I missed the R. Kelly singalong while reading through that. I only saw the MJ one, which seems like fun. I have a rekindled love for R. Kelly after last years set.

Is the R.Kelly Thing a Bonnaroo Tradition? I swear Trapped In The Closet has been a late Thursday Night staple every year I have been to Roo. Always say I wanna do it. Never awake at the scheduled time to do it.

This was pretty great at Big Ears.
I like this kind of thing. I saw a guy that has done music/score for Breaking Bad and other AMC shows at Roo do the score to some old Buster Keaton silent films and it was awesome. I wanted to see Reggie Watts score some movie (forget which one) but it was a conflict with some music I was heading towards.

Third year in a row. It's been a big hit for them.
Terminator Too: Judgment Play. This could be awesome, seeing as it's the greatest fictitious action movie ever made. This is not up for debate either. It's amazingness will not be questioned.

Great trilogy, but it's no Terminator 2. Terminator 2 is the greatest cinematic cyborg vs nanomorphic mimetic poly-alloy chase scene the world has and will ever see. It's pretty much the only thing that I officially nerd out about. The rest of my interests are cool and socially hip.
Not the greatest week for the web site directors at Bonnaroo, eh?
I honestly think they underestimate how many times we're on that site on a daily basis.
Yeah, I found it while searching for "schedule" to see if they had a version of the leak up there, but they didn't. I don't quite trust the leaked schedule because it seems like the music is starting a little late some days in some tents, so I assume when the additions are announced there will be some shuffling around.
Harry Shearer! We're one step closer to getting Spinal Tap
Fuckin' would be awesome to get Spinal Tap some year!
If most of this holds true then the cinema tent looks pretty great this year! Seems like if I need some down time in Centeroo I could potentially get a chance to watch some of my favorite movies on The Farm.
