I've seen Future Islands so they're out. It's a flip between RTJ and Terje. If Terje had his band it would be an easier decision.
He doesnt? It says "Live"
Nope, just him and his laptop he said it himself on FB. I think there were visa issues (fucking visa issues!)
Todd Terje August 18 I MIGHT´ve shot myself in my foot releasing this Øya live footage just before FYF Fest in LA; Unfortunately I´m NOT travelling with the full band to the US, I will be doing my "skinny man with laptop, gadgets and synth" one-man show.

Damn FyF is taking a beating on social media. Apparently some of the stages have a capacity and people missed shows they were trying to see. A lot of people saying its way over crowded.

The arena is the only one that has a limit. The fire dept was there do I think they were being overly cautious. Once we got in for caribou the place was only half full, but they had everyone waiting outside. They better fix it today, I need to see Darkside.
I didn't feel it was overcrowded, the logistics are just bad (not enough food vendors, 2+ hour waits to get in, ONLY using the floor of the arena which causes a 3k capacity for some very popular shows) and there are some really dumb bottlenecks. Really hope they take it back to the park next year...this location is non bueno.

Apparently, everything was fixed in time for Day 2 that was wrong with logistics or whatever. To be honest, I didn't notice the changes at all. Both days I was able to get in no problem, I didn't buy one beer from the beer gardens so I never had to wait in line with that. I also never saw one show in the Arena, so I lucked out with that clusterquack.
The weekend was absolutely magical!
My Saturday was great. "Best of the day" for me was definitely Man Man and Run the Jewels. Mariachi el Bronx exceeded my expectations (although I know none of you care, just thought I'd share anyways). Interpol surprised me and I enjoyed it. Honorable mention goes to Albert Hammond Jr. and Against Me!
I was stupid and went to Phoenix. Why did I think that THIS show was going to be different that any of the other carbon copies we've gotten for the past two years... In hindsight, I should have gone to Ty Segall-- but I still had fun with Phoenix, just left kinda "meh".
My Sunday was even better. Twin Peaks --> Benjamin Booker was a great warm up combo. I ended up going back to the Trees for the rest of the day where I saw Balance and Composure, La Dispute, Presidents of the USA, The Bronx, Murder City Devils, Blood Brothers, and Deafhaven.
Favorite food truck item was the Cubano sandwhich from Joda's Cuban Kitchen. Best stage award-- The Trees!!! The mainstage was so ugly, a parking lot. The Trees was comfortable. The Trees was the only stage with an awesome epic view too, great skyline of the Coliseum behind you.
Highlights of the weekend: Deafhaven, Murder City Devils, Man Man, Run the Jewels, free popsicle cards, and the food truck that was selling cubanos.
Dissapointments: Phoenix, Real Estate, and the logisitcal nightmare that was everything about cramming all those people into such a small amount of space with not a lot of room for crowds to move.
I have been going through as many reviews of the fest as I can find and have seen only one small blurb about Caribou. Did anybody see it their set?
Unfortunately Caribou was mostly locked out due to the arena clusterfuck. After waiting in a cranky "line" for almost an hour I saw the last 20 or 30 minutes and the high energy set reinvigorated me. Totally worth the wait. He had a full band and the sound was perfect. If you ever have a chance to see him, DO IT. Here's a pic I found on the internets.

Yes! Glad to hear you pulled it off to see it, at least for a little bit. I have tickets for a show in November.

Are we waiting for a fest review from you?
Very nice! You'll have a blast.
I may write something up in the coming days, currently taking Vicodin and it makes me sleepy.
I mean so many people getting addicted to prescription pain pills and dying and switching to heroin and dying some more.
Perhaps you'll be interested to read this. It seems the government is too. My friend is a surgical nurse and was saying it'll really tighten down how they deal with pain medications.
