Name: Jillian Banks
Biography:
Teaching herself to play piano on a toy keyboard given to her by a friend, Banks started writing song's the around the age of 15. Initially she used her song writing to ease the pain of her parent divorce, but then expanded it to expressions of feeling lost and helpless in the world. For years she kept these song's to herself, but once she started sharing them with the rest of the world, the world's interest was shown quickly. 4 months after posting her first songs on Soundcloud she caught the interest of Billboard, who called her a "magnetic writer with songs to obsess over". Soon she started working with Good Years Recordings which released two EP's of hers in 2013. In the fall of 2013, before she'd ever played live, she was signed as the opening act for The Weeknd. touring The United States and United Kingdom. She also has a bachelors degree in psychology. Her interest in the working of the human mind can be felt in her words, music and voice.

Live I've not had the opportunity to see her live yet, but she's my #1 name on Thursday. From the videos i've seen, it appears she pours pure honest emotion into her performance. I'm hoping for something that i can be pulled into, sprinkled with pain, and released. Maybe not Fiona Apple, but somewhere down that path.
