Hey guys!,
This will be my 3rd year attending Roo, but this year I plan on bringing a hookah along for everyone to enjoy at my campsite. I know that the rules state "no glass", but I was wondering since the base of the hookah is made from glass, would event security confiscate it if I brought it with us? My group has been arguing back and forth about this for about a week so I figured I would pose the question to you other Bonnaroovians out there. Thanks!

I was thinking the same freakin thing. I have a metal case for mine, so I was thinking about bringing it and putting it at the bottom of all our shiz in my car.. but again, I'm worried they might take it? They're mostly concerned with glass bottles, and glass items that could be litered throughout the farm etc. Not like I'm gonna be walking around with my hookah just throwing it on the ground.
I also feel like some of the security just take shiz from people if they want it for themselves.. as I've had a security guard tell me that they take drugs from people if they look like a jerkstore, they take it - if they are cool they'll be less harsh on the pat downs and searches.
I think it depends a lot on who your searcher is. My brother got an acrylic base last year just to be safe.
I would concur. If you can afford to lose it, take it. Otherwise, I'd get a backup. Might be a good addition to the hookah to have a more travel friendly base anywho?

Just to add a thought, if you've consumed something other than tobacco out of your hookah, you are technically open to a paraphernalia charge if they feel like it. Also one of those things in a vehicle which could be probable cause...

He's just trying to get you to admit to having stuff on you....not trying to be a helpful guy.

You're right. I'm probably not going to bring it.. as I usually don't spend enough time at camp to justify bringing it. I don't use my hookah for anything other than tobacco. I don't want anything that gives them probable cause, so it's most likely gonna stay home.

haha yea I learned all about the do's and dont's of owning a hookah awhile back. Cops will use any excuse they can to confiscate something that looks as "outrageous" as a hookah. Just a harmless shesha smoker here.

This was at like 2 in the morning.. he was about my age and he actually shared some unmentionables with me.. although I don't doubt some of the guards would pull something like this.

I had some winners last year. Post inspection the staff apologized to me because the search staff were so rude to me. I'm gonna try a different entry point this year. Hopefully I have better luck.

I've been told (while totally clean) "I know you've got a little bit...just show me how much and then you'll be able to go". I say no, I don't have any and they just keep the line moving.

Oooh yeah I've had the ask me that before. Nah I randomly was hanging out with this guy just shootin the shiz and I asked him "How do ya'll determine when to confiscate stuff?" because sometimes I'll walk thru and they will hardly pat me down, and then other times I've had them make me take my wallet out and they looked thru it.. it's such a huge difference depending on the guard. He said if they are wanting some shrooms and you look like you might have shrooms, they'll search you.. or if you seem like a decent person, they won't mess with you much. I tend to go ahead and get everything out of my pockets and have it in my hands, take my backpack off and have it opened before I get to the search - making it easier on them, they'll make it easier on you.. that's my experience. But I'm mostly talking about the Centeroo pat-down, but same goes for getting in thru the main gate as well.
