Btw i did a day of North Sea Jazz last year and had very mixed feelings about it... The Netherlands' concert/festival culture looks better from the outside than inside.
What happened and what makes you think that?
NSJ had a great lineup and was very well organized, but the crowd tends not to pay attention. Look up the term "Dutch disease" in this context - there's a bunch of articles written about this.
That said, the country is still a great place to live for live music due to its geographical proximity to everything.

But since you mentioned Lowlands in your earlier post: I attended that last year as well and neglected to post about it here, but I'll happily answer any questions to whoever is curious.
He's getting there, since his hit with Khalid and Selena Gomez.. I'd say he's at the level of The Chainsmokers around 2016 (so before Closer etc). He played at Pukkelpop last year and the tent wasn't that packed according to some people that went so yeah. But the US is a big influence, if it's popular over there, it's very likely to get big here aswell. He'll close Klub C against Gorillaz tho, so it's not really that shitty of a booking because that means, one less conflict haha
Interesting. Me and my girlfriend are routing a summer 10 day trip to Europe and it so happens the dates we have lined up for Budapest aligns with this fest and day passes are like 65 euros. Was thinking about going the closing night but will avoid that if it has a total trash reputation.
Anyone familiar with Sziget festival in Budapest and/or have any information on it?
I've been once. It's a complete and utter shit show. It's not much about the music much more about getting drunk and dancing to trash EDM with molly munchers.
I had a full pass and I think we went like 2 days (couldn't miss Radiohead and Iggy). It just was not my scene. I had fun in other places while I was there but I was bummed that I spent that much money. Especially coming from the heaven that was Roskilde that year.
Hmm, well that's a bummer. Is it just not worth going at all if I happen to be in the city at the time of the fest if there's one headliner I like and I can get a day pass for 60 euros? Or is it fine enough to get to from Budapest, go for half a day, and come back?

I have a friend that has gone the past 3 years, and he absolutely loves it. From pictures/videos and the stories he has told me, it seems like the production value and setting are off the charts. It's supposed to be massive and have lots of things to do besides music. Based on the lineups though, I bet some of the criticisms posted in this thread are valid.
If you look at the map, its way bigger than anything in the US.

Sounds good, thanks for the response. I don't think I'd be going to re-create Primavera last year, just trying to see 2-4 sets I'd be interested in and see some crazy stuff for 60 euros. Heard the same thing about it getting pretty wild with a crazy production value. If it's accessible from the city with little issues, we may try it for a day.
