If the other two days were as stacked as that Sunday, I'd be there again in a heartbeat! (Look at Beck down there in the small font!) I've got some other hefty travel expenses this fall, though, so a part of me is relieved about it.
I really do respect whoever books this festival dedication to booking British bands that rarely come to America. Primal Scream , Busted, Maximo Park and The Magic Numbers all fall under that category.
Even with Saturday being weak, just go a few hours and leave before the the taxi line builds up. Plenty to have fun with in CDMX, imo. That was the only thing I didn’t like about last year. You literally had to be at the festival all day and night with how stacked it was.
Has anyone been to this? I pulled the trigger this week. Going to be in Spain anyway. Just curious if anyone has any insights or tips, etc
efestivals has a pretty active thread about bbk if you need more insight
Just thought I would drop a note re Bilbao BBK… This was definitely worth the trip for anyone considering it in future years. City was pretty cool - def my favorite of all the bigger ones I visited in Spain (Madrid, Barca, Oviedo, Santiago). Festival was really good from a logistics/location/attendance/weather perspective. Very few complaints or things that needed upgrading. Music was great. Would absolutely go back. And for anyone who is walking the Northern Way of the Camino it is right on the route.

Øyafestivalen Review
Writing this on a beautiful train ride from Oslo to Bergen. Really amazing festival. Highly recommend it and taking time to explore Oslo and the area outside of it. The festival is in a park (with a botanical garden attached) about 25 minute walk away from the city center. There were a lot of people there on Friday and Saturday, but never had to wait more than a minute for food/water/bathroom. Had great food options; had pesto gnocchi, falafels from a Palestinian booth, and samosas. Weather was great, there was some rain but it felt nice and the temp was in the high 60s/low 70s all week long with a nice breeze. Other than the headliners, I was able to walk up to the rail/second row for every show I saw. Even for hl’s, you could show up 5 minutes before and get pretty close. Three of the stages are at the bottom of hills so great views from anywhere, also just cool to see the crowds fill the hillside. Also had a Mojave-type tent stage and a smaller club stage. Crowds were mostly very good, but pretty stagnant for non-Norwegian acts, especially the men. They do really love rhythmic clapping over there though.
The music was phenomenal. Basically had Coachella quality acts all day long. Saw a lot of UK/US acts but tried to catch a couple Norwegian ones and they were great. Sound was a nice volume and everything was right on time.
Thu: André 3000 -> Holly Humberstone -> English Teacher -> Overmono -> Jorja Smith -> Jessie Ware -> The National
Friday: Wednesday -> Hammok -> Air -> Big Thief -> Jack White
Saturday: Rosa Faenskap -> Heave Blood & Die -> Blondshell -> han gaiden (very cool electronic trio, had bongos and a clarinet player) -> Fay Wildhagen (pretty sure she’s a legend in Norway, her and her band rocked and the crowd was going wild) -> Yard Act -> Idles
Top Ten 1. IDLES 2. Jack White 3. Jessie Ware 4. English Teacher 5. Jorja Smith 6. Blondshell 7. Air 8. André 3000 9. Yard Act 10. PJ Harvey / Wednesday / Big Thief
For some reason I’ve always avoided listening to Idles, but that’s gonna change now. Only act I thought was bad was The Kills which was a bummer. The National is my favorite band and it was a good show but due to a couple of reasons was my least favorite time I’ve seen them and wish I would have went to Janelle instead. Would love to go back some day.
