do ya'll think it would be a bad idea to rent a car? that's what i'm going to do.. my two best friends quote it as a bad idea. i think it's nifty and quick and helpful.. post back and gimme some answers!! thank u
We thought about renting an SUV for the extra space, but it would have been too expensive.
If your drive is long, renting will cause less wear on your car. Depending on how your car is, this could be a big benefit.
On the other hand, it's probably going to get really dirty. I don't think I would like having to worry about taking care of something that is someone else's property at Roo. (I guess insurance would cover a lot of things, but I'd still be worried because that's how I am ).
We're renting a small SUV - our cars are just too small for all the stuff we're bringing. I'm paying out the a$$ for insurance, though, b/c I only have a liability policy on my car - AND that's with a discount my friend gave me. Fortunately, we're splitting the cost 3 ways, so it won't be that rough on me. But the gas just might do us in.

I rent cars often because I travel a lot. The key thing to remember is you don't need to buy their insurance which costs about $25-40 a day extra. If your provider covers liability for a rental...use that instead! Most polices cross apply. Also, collision insurance is VERY important for the rental. Someone hit and ran my rental a few years ago and THANK goodness I had collision insurance. Most major credit cards automatically come with collision for rentals at no charge- at least Visa does. So check out visa.com.
If you have any other card...check their policies. Also, a good travel insurance company sells collision insurance for $9 a day. try accessamerica.com.
and one more thing...if you want a small car but not quite economy, make a reservation for economy anyway. most likely they're out of economy cars and compacts...and give you a mid-size for the economy rate anyway.
