I thought it was different here, but i learned today that I was wrong. and I'm sad, disappointed and disgusted about that.
What exactly were you expecting? We don't care about the fact that some Ice Cube lyrics spew hate bro. Rappers are allowed to say things of that nature.

I don't think the water was bad at all this year. And I want one of the DJs to remix the loud, groaning noises the pumps were making.
The well in the VIP area sounded like my dog when she is "sneezing" or "coughing" or whatever that respiratory fit is that she has. I turned every time I heard it. It's a bit like an asthmatic goose.
Seriously!
I was debating on doing the morning yoga (personally it was a little too late for me at 10am) besides that though, I was walking to the bathrooms during the morning yoga and realized, it really is the worst possible place for calming, restoring, yoga. People were filling up their water for the day and all you could hear was that pumping sound. In addition, it wasn't really far from the bathrooms and showers, so lots of hustle and bustle, doors shutting etc.
*For those that don't like the taste of the water, try the Brita water bottles that filter as you drink* This however, wouldn't work if you prefer a camel back, also with the size of the bottle you will probably have to refill fairly often.
I'm shocked to see so many people bitching about toilet paper in the portos. I thought it was understood that you bring your own TP with you? It's not hard guys.
In fact, I highly recommend the Cottonelle flushable wet wipes. They make your ass feel like a god when you're done. It's like $3 and fits easily in your backpack.
It's not that it's that hard to bring tp, in my situation, I didn't have any because I thought the VIP bathrooms would be open. That being said, they are designed for tp and I feel that for the company running it, that should be included. Also are they really only cleaned once or twice a day?! For 90k people!? I guess my perspective has changed. After attending Bonnaroo for 8 years, and one of my main reasons for upgrading to VIP was clean bathrooms - several weeks ago I attended (a granted much smaller festival (13K)) I see no need for fancy air conditioned bathrooms, but just well kept portos. The portos at this festival were regularly cleaned (4x a day maybe?) wiped down - tp added, and on top of it all they had hand washing stations and sanitizer. We're talking about the feces of 90k people... do you realize how much bacteria and nastiness that can spread?
I've already given my opinion earlier on bringing kids which I wouldn't bring mine to Roo until they were at least teenagers but they've been to other fests and shows and Roo is just the roughest of them all so it's just not something I would do. I miss my kids when I'm away as much as the next person but I know that it would be very challenging for me and them so why bother? There are plenty of other family friendly fests to attend.
But maybe instead of raising the age limit, just discourage it by charging for kids like another fest does. I can't remember which one but it was a smaller one we were looking at this summer. They say they aren't going to tell you not to bring them but it's not a family fest and there will be a charge. I bet that would limit the people bringing kids though if they charged.
1. Start letting VIP'ers into the 3 Tent stage pit areas! It seems like all of these areas were empty or half full for a majority of the shows I went to (including Andrew Bird). Somehow I was able to get stage-side for Break Science, but that was about it. It really shouldn't be necessary to go Roll Like a Rockstar just to get this benefit.
Absolutely this. I thought it was just because I went to less popular shows (Phosphorescent, Okkervil River, First Aid Kit, Nick Cave, etc) that these were empty. Would have been nice to be able to use these, or at least just one side for tents that had two, with regular VIP.
Would also like to see some food vendors inside the VIP main stage hill.

One side at each tent is for RLARS only. NO ONE else can get in those. They purposely don't crowd them because, well, those people payed $35,000 for the bus.
The other side is for EVERYONE else. Staff/Media/Photo/Guest/Artist/This Pass/Infinity Pass. And they definitely filled up at many times this weekend. On Saturday, they even stopped letting in Guest passes.
1. More tp and cleaning the bathrooms more than once or twice per day. Also, it really sucked seeing people literally raid the newly cleaned porto's of all their tp. That's just a dick move.
2. One of my favorite memories from this year is dancing with a random little dude and his mom. I see no problem with responsible parents bringing their kids.
3. At the same time, I do like the idea of 18+ due to seeing a lot of really young teenagers who were way too messed up. Like the young girl who was in really bad shape at 2pm Sunday and none of her friends thought anything was wrong with her cause they were also messed up. I told them they should bring her to the medical tent because she was laying face down and she couldn't get up. They said she just needed water cause she had too much Molly. A very sad sight.

On #3, at the end of Kanye, after this long speech about the press, we moved back to get some fresh air. There was a chick who looked pretty lifeless and this guy was all over her. The people next to them kept telling the guy to stop, kept trying to shake the chick to wake up, but the guy just wouldn't quit. I never saw him do anything sexually to her there but omg that kind of freaked me out. They didn't look a day over 19.
The kids next to us (I say kids bc even at 28/29 I felt like the oldest people at roo) were all so young and without trying to listen to their conversations, it just happened, they made the comment their dad only sent them with a case of water. These kids literally had no food on them, barely enough water for all 5 of them to make it the whole weekend, and were popping molly and taking adderall all weekend non stop. As a mom, I felt the need to keep my ears opened in case they had any problems bc they were all just fucked up all weekend. But I guess that's what makes roo so special -- you take care of eachother.
Also, none of my neighbors (all 21 or younger) knew to start their cars periodicaly, ESPECIALLY if you had your charger plugged in or listening to music. I can't tell you how many times I jumped people on both sides of me during the weekend.

Ugh....it makes you wonder how many of these kids come home with horror stories and you never hear about it. We all like to think of Roo as this magical, awesome place but I'm sure there is some terrible stuff happening to some people because they can't keep their sh*t together.

Fair enough. Either way, it was still my biggest peeve. Hopefully they can find a way to accommodate VIP in the tents.
To be sure. Bonnaroo is a disaster waiting to happen for the unprepared every year. My first year, we didn't even bring an ez up. Vicious sunburns, dehydration, badrugs, people not looking out for their friends.
and let's not forget the people who are there to take advantage of the people who are too far gone.
Yes, you completely understand my point. I have a strong belief that children do not have the right to eat.
If girls can walk around topless, why can't a mother breastfeed?
I realize some people are grossed out by breastfeeding and bodily functions, you may or may not be one, but a mother breastfeeding is fine with me, as much as a 18 year old girl with painted breasts for all to see
Not grossed out by breastfeeding or naked breasts. I'm just not OK with newborn babies being at Bonnaroo. I feel that it is not good parenting. Again, just my opinion- which is what this thread is all about. The original poster said that it wasn't going to be a popular topic with everyone, which is true.

To be honest....the portapotties would be so much better if there weren't a bunch of assholes who think it's funny to piss and shit on the seat or clog up the urinal thing. There are so many unnecessary things done to the portapotties ("Oh hey....a full roll of toilet paper. Let me put it in the urinal and pee all over it so nobody can use it").
Yes, cleaning them more and having more toilet paper would be good. But they wouldn't have to do that stuff if people didn't act like immature idiots.
Bands I'd be happy about returning (from the 2004 lineup):
- The Dead (I love me some Grateful Dead even if they are all old now....give them Sunday night) - David Byrne - Wilco - moe. - Gov't Mule - Galactic - North Mississippi Allstars - My Morning Jacket - Soulive - Calexico
The rest I could take or leave. All talented acts but nothing mindblowing.

Worst jokes ever. Wish I could rub their nones in it.

Of course I would leave out DMB and a few others and I would add a few (Yonder, umph, RRE) or maybe just do a collection of old school (pre-2007) Roo bands who still have major draw and not a singular year. SCI blew my mind last time I saw them, so they would be a automatic stay. But if Roo would make an attempt to go back to it's roots, I think alot of the problems would weed themselves out and/or not show up. This was quite possibly the most negative vibe Roo I have ever attended. Back in the early days it was an amazing show of family and togetherness and I wouldn't have missed it for the world. But we all know it is about the $$$ nowadays and that is becoming clear. And I feel like smaller festivals are just better for my soul. Bigger isn't always better.

It was all about the $$$ those days as well. They didn't put on a free festival out of the good of their hearts and desire to share music with others. This has been a business from the beginning and was designed to turn a profit.

Well of course, but it wasn't so blatantly obvious. At least they tried to camouflage it!
