It seemed like the what field never really got full, didn't see kanye though, but jack white and Elton looked empty compared to the last couple years. Got pretty close for Elton, and I only got there a half hour early. It was pretty awesome

It was definitely less than the last few years. We unfortunately got forced to go in the East Tollbooth and were in Pod 10. Pod 11 wasn't even open this year, not to mention the various sections around the campground that were empty because of the mud situation.
11/2/19: Tool 5/17/19: Blues Traveler 5/9/19: Tool 11/10/18: Tenacious D 9/20/18: White Denim 7/23/18: Radiohead 6/4/18: Jack White 5/20/18: Tool 5/18/18: A Perfect Circle 5/18/18: Alice in Chains 5/6/18: Blind Melon
I'm wondering how many people (if any) the mud situation scared away. I can't imagine Bonnaroo would release how many wristbands were sold, but never showed up on the farm though. Other than the issues with getting in and the left side of the What Field, the mud turned out to be pretty much a non-issue.

It was noticeably less crowded than last year. The What Field was actually pretty easy to navigate and with the exception of that Skrillex Superjam, that I left Jack White pretty early to go to and it was already packed to almost the fountain. There really wasn't a tent for me atleast that seemed too bad this week.

Much less crowded and so much more pleasant!! I usually cannot get near ANY tent shows, and this year I easily got spots on the rail for almost of all them.
Yea, there were a number of times I expected I would need to camp out at a place for a while to get a decent spot only to get there and see only a small number of "campers". So, then I was able to go to the bathroom, grab a beer, refill some water, etc. come back in 20-30 minutes and still have a solid spot. It made the day flow a lot better for me.
VIP was completly full to the back wall. Last year there were three full empty rows
They gave a lot more space to camp in VIP this year. Although spreading out the camping made it look fuller, there were actually a lot less folks in VIP. Easy tell was the lack of significant lines for the party on Thursday. You could also tell on Saturday and Sunday nights that there were noticeably less of a crowd at Jack White and Elton John than the mass of humanity at Sir Paul last year.
I must have done the same thing. I thought the field at What seemed pretty crowded from the Arctic Monkeys through Sir Elton. Plus, I felt like the shows I attended on Thursday night, save for White Denim, were jam packed. The crowd for Cherub was as packed as I've ever seen That on a Thursday night. It was seriously person to person from the stage seemingly back to the merch booths.
Thursday I had no problems getting good spots for shows, even after they had started, except for cherub. completely opposite of last year, where I didn't really enjoy any music thursday because the tents were too packed.
arctic monkeys seemed really full to me as well, but I think a lot of it were people just being tired/lazy and hanging out all day for elton. Otherwise most shows I thought were much better (less packed/pushy) than years past.
After last year I had serious misgivings about this year, because I felt like most shows were so full I just didn't enjoy it in 2013.

This year was way less packed.
I could be off here, but I felt a severe lack of "bros" or whatever. Noticeably less people pulled from @foxandhound sig. I had a great experience with everyone I tried to talk to.

I think they Intentionally did not book any "bigger" artists for Thur this year after the ridiculous overcrowding in past years

Only went last year but definitely less crowded than 2013. Could actually breathe during many of the sets on Thursdays (think this also has to do with how the lineup actually put rising artists on Thursday as opposed to guys like alt-j) and the What field never felt super packed aside from Arctic Monkeys. Only time the crowd screwed with my enjoyment was during the Skrillex superjam.
