I am first generation American from Italian immigrants. My family has had NOTHING to do with any slavery or racism. Not all white people are well off. I know because me and my family are not. we grew up in poverty.

I'm also a first generation American. My family was pretty damn poor when they got here from Ukraine in 1979. That doesn't mean I am absolved of the responsibility of being a member of American society. The fact of the matter is discrimination happens every day in every state (race, gender, sexual orientation, etc.). It's very easy to take your position that you shouldn't suffer a detriment for other people's discriminatory conduct. But that's an absolute cop out. You are choosing to ignore a true injustice and say "that's not my problem."
If you can't recognize that an injustice exists in our society that needs rectifying, then you need to wake up and smell the roses.
