Bloody hell they've done it again. Top line is hit and miss but below the fold it's just wall to wall quality as usual.
Getting The 'Mats is a great coup, hoping they come to the UK around that time now.
I'll give you a hand with stage to stage distances etc once they've released the schedule if you like. As a rule of thumb, don't miss anyone you like on the Ray-Ban. It's a brilliant little amphitheater and the sound is amazing.

This would be incredibly helpful. When does the schedule get announced?

The more I look at this poster the more conflicts I see piling up. Thursday and Friday are just stacked and Sunday with Caribou, The Strokes, Underworld and Einstürzende Neubauten. I rescind all of my earlier, negative comments.

it varies but usually late April. If you Google "Primavera clashfinder 20xx" you'll get every one since 2011.

...and after researching the schedules I see nothing but conflicts. Fuck.
Yeah man, grim innit.
2011, my first year, fell about the best for me. I saw a good 80% of what I wanted to. It was helped then by a really strong Wednesday (Bunnymen, Caribou, Nisennenondai) and Mercury Rev on the Sunday. They've put less and less on those two days over the years, which I think has made the clashes worse.
The Cure vs War on Drugs vs Sleigh Bells vs Dirty Three was harsh. Sleigh Bells stock was a little higher then, though WODs was much smaller. I did half of The Cure and went to Dirty Three. I'd already seen The Cure, which made the decision a little easier.
2013 Blur vs Goat vs Swans was a killer too. Swans won.
They are the two that really stick in my head. A few downers, like missing Camera Obscura for My Bloody Valentine, but that was a no brainer - just disappointing.
So, I'm totally heading to Spain this year to visit my buddy in Madrid, and we are definitely heading to Barcelona for this festival! Line-up looks awesome, vibe sounds amazing. Sounds like it's mostly a lot of locals that go to this festival and not a lot of internationals. So, I was hoping to get some insight from anyone who has been or is discussing going, about places to stay, after-parties, general experience of the festival, etc. And, maybe find a travel buddy or some Americans to meet up with while we're there.

I'm thinking
Thursday: Arthur Russel's Instrumentals/Peter Gordon>Panda Bear>Yasmine Hamdan or Cheatahs>Battles>End of Replacements>Mikal Cronin>Spiritualized>Black Keys> Sun O)))>Jungle Andrew Weatherall>Richie Hawitn
Friday: The Pastels>Jose Gonzalez>Start of Ex-Hex>End of JC + The Voidz>Patti Smith>Belle and Sebastian>Sleater Kinney>Ride>end of Death From Above 1979>Juan McLean or Jon Hopkins>Ratatat>Marc Pinol
For those who have gone: can you talk a bit about the logistics of stage hopping? For example, how hard is it to get from Pitchfork to Primavera? What are some of the stage to stage distances to avoid?
When I went, the main stage was where the ATP stage is now. I stuck around that/Pitchfork/ (what's now) the Adidas Original and had no problem maneuvering around with those. I didn't like the feel of where the Primavera and Heineken stages were. Hopefully it's changed but it was like a gravel parking lot. More of a state fair feel than anything else.
It's looking like both of the main stages are facing each other. If you're walking from the Pitchfork stage, it's about a 7-10 minute walk. I learned quick to walk past the H&M Pro stage. For whatever reason, that way always felt more empty.
Oh, I will say that for however empty it feels early on, it will fill up by midnight or so. That actually caused me to change up some of what I was gonna see. There's no regrets though wen you have as many options as you guys do.
I also found out this weekend that my niece is going. She literally graduates and gets on a plane bound for Barcelona. I congratulated her on me hating her for the first time.
Worked out my schedule. Most of this will probably go to shit, but that's part of the fun.
Wed - - Albert Hammond Jr. (21:15-22:00, ATP) > OMD (22:25-23:25, ATP)
Thur - - Panda Bear (17:30-18:30; Auditori) > Baxter Dury (18:55-19:55; Primavera) > Viet Cong (19:45-20:30; Pitchfork) > The Replacements (21:10-22:10; Primavera) > Kelela (21:45-22:30; Adidas) > Spiritualized (22:50-23:50; ATP) > Simian Mobile Disco (00:40-01:40; Pitchfork) > James Blake (1:30-2:45; Heineken); Suicide of Western Culture (3:15-4:00; Adidas)
Fri - - Sylvan Esso (18:00-18:45; Heineken) > Julian Casablancas + The Voidz (18:55-19:50; Primavera) > Tobias Jesso Jr. (20:10-21:00; Pitchfork) > Perfume Genius (21:30-22:20; Pitchfork) > Shabazz Palaces (22:45-23:35; Pitchfork) > Ariel Pink (00:10-01:10; Pitchfork); The Juan MacLean (01:40-02:35; Pitchfork) > Ratatat (03:00-3:55; Ray Ban); The Soft Moon (04:00-5:00; Adidas)

I think we're gonna be at a lot of the same places, especially Saturday. I'm so pumped for this fest! I'm just starting to work out my schedule. We complain about Bonnaroo conflicts, but oh my god! There schedule is crazy jammed.
