I know we kind of just assumed that we would be getting Calvin with maybe (or in place of him) Bassnectar/Pretty Lights Band but now I've actually think we have more than a solid chance to get Deadmau5 if he is actually going to be playing festivals (which from the sounds of it might be the last time you see him at a festival in a LONG time) and I'm not upset in the least bit.
He also has made it known that he is touring this year. No specifics have been released but if it starts before June then he obviously is taking dates off for festivals. The combination of him actively touring and playing at Gov Ball (perfect timing, similar magnitude, and both in the eastern US). I think he could realistically be looked at as the front runner for top EDM booking.

Surprised because I know one of the last interviews he has done he said he was doing this huge elaborate world tour with a brand new show that was going to cost him an arm and a leg because of everything they had planned so we all kind of figured that ruled out festivals completely. I guess I didn't take into account that I think he meant more of the EDM style festivals because that's all just big stage festival music and it's all a big dick measuring contest compared to actual music festivals
Personal list of Gov Ball artists I hope we see: Deadmau5 - not the biggest fan of his latest album but he's a bucket list show for me. Flume - I think he was confirmed? FlyLo A-Trak - if he doesn't spin most of his live stuff then he is a way better faker then anyone else. His set on Halloween was awesome. Big G - phenomenal live. Dom always kills it. Logic - considering he was there last year, I'm unfortunately not expecting him back
I guess thats most of the edm artists at Gov Ball but I love the list! I also didn't look to see if any artist had schedule conflicts or had been ruled out.
I think that Flume is a foregone conclusion at this point. For whatever reason that was one of the first people that seems to be an all around consensus that will be there. Do you live in Columbus? I know A-Trak was here on Halloween but I didn't go to that event but I heard it was pretty good.
Yeah, Columbus area. Haunted Fest was legit other than the venue He has messed with new equipment lately (making people question his live sets) but IMO A-Trak doesn't get the love because he isn't as crowd-interactive as a lot of main stream guys. It is tough to interact when you're actually spinning some 1's and 2's!.

Yeah, lets just say we won't see him and Krewella on any of the same lineups.

A lot of my friends aren't into this type of music so I couldn't get them excited enough to want to go to the event and I didn't feel like going solo to this one this time around. I'm not a big "Zedd's Dead" fan so that didn't interest me and I had a feeling Arty was going to do a lot of Big Room instead of Trance. What were the overall thoughts of the venue? That's the first time they've done something like that in there from what I know.

Well to start, it took some people over an hour to get in, but that's another story. The make-shift stage looked pretty half-assed if you ask me. I can't describe exactly what was wrong with the sound but it wasn't the greatest - I'm not sure if it was due to the system or the venue. I just don't think the venue was right for that type of show. With that being said, I would probably go back next year if they got a couple more big acts.
I don't know if I would go that far but I would take him over most of the other previously mentioned EDM headliner acts (Goetta, Harris, etc) in a heartbeat.

I saw Bassnectar live and it did nothing for me. Maybe it was me just not feeling it that night. I haven't seen Deadmau5 so I would be more excited for him.

i'm interested to see what deadmau5 starts to do next year. i saw him back in like 09' and while it's awesome that lately he's been playing all his own songs/new remixes of his own songs, it does get a little stale after a while. i def wanna see him again though. could be pretty awesome on the which, hoping for something different then the cube, not sure if he'll have his new setup ready by june or what his plan is. ya never know with joel

I saw the Nectar last year for the first time and the place went absolutely apequack when he came out and dropped an intro but I'd say 20 minutes after that my friend and I were beat and just wasn't really interested in about another hour of that stuff. The Mau5 with a new setup is the route they should go. If they want to differ themselves from Coachella and all that is....

the new setup is supposed to be 360 style, that's what worries me about just getting the cube again. hell i saw the cube in 09, time to get rid of that stage mau5

Wish list:
Sts9 Gramatik Duke dumont Tourist Anna Lunoe Pretty lights live band The new deal Chrome sparks Hermitude Odesza Tycho Papadosio Justice The floozies Little people Bonobo Tipper Late night radio
Would mau5 fit on the which? Or would he be main stage?
easily fit on the which, the cube isn't too big actually. skrillex's spaceship is bigger i do believe
The cube itself fit in a tent. If he's on a bigger stage (which he will be now at this point) he adds and hangs some other shit. Since he is putting effort into a new setup, I would have to assume that we will get something close to the Made In America setup he had rather than anything resembling the 360 tour. If we get him of course.

From Steve Aoki's Facebook Page:
To start the New Year I’m making some new changes and have decided I'll no longer be caking fans at most festivals. There might be an exception here or there but for the most part I'll be saving the CAKE for my headline shows, keeping it exclusive for the die hard fans. So if you want to get caked, come to one of my headline shows like the Neon Future Experience that is happening across the USA and Canada in Feb/March, or at my upcoming Manchester and London shows, or in Vegas and Ibiza. And to show my love to all the fans around the world that love the cake I wrote a song especially for YOU, properly titled CAKEFACE! It's up now and free to download at soundcloud.com/steveaoki. Love you to infinity and back. Now let's go forward into the neon future!!
