Why did Deadmau5 make such a big deal about not playing festivals anymore, only to play (that we know of so far) 2 of the major US festivals? Anyone else think he may be short on funds for the 360 set up and is cashing in? I believe it was around last March he said he was short around $6 million to finish the 360 set up.
$$$$$
And he made a big deal about hating playing festivals, I don't really remember him saying he wouldn't play anymore festivals at all.

Yeah, I didn't word that the best. The quotes I saw from him were definitely more disdain for festivals than saying he would never play them again. Brought that up more for the people that suggested maybe he would be playing with his 360 set up, that one he did say would not be at any festivals. I'm not sure how that would even work, unless they set it up in the middle of the What field.
I'm pretty sure Joel was hating on EDM festivals more than anything. Notice you don't see him at any Ultra or Electric events.

I've never heard of this Grizmatik combo before so I'm going to have to check that out. Thank the lords about Steve Aoki. We might end up with some middle of the pack cheese that might surprise us. And yeah Joel said he wouldn't do the EDM festivals anymore because everything sounds the same and they are all trying to just one up each other with drops and what not instead of quality. We did see that he could be bought (Ultra last year) but who can blame the guy? Do we know if the Kolliope (or whatever the quack it was called) is going to be there?
EDIT: For that other EDM spot I'd prefer Fedde Le Grand but that's just me

I hope they bring back the Kallipe stage. We had a blast late night'ing it/dancing in the field Thursday night after the music elsewhere stopped.

I think they announced it during BLAM last year but at this it seems to be kind of an assumption that it will be back. They NEED to have it back haha. There is nothing better to "radiate positivity" than a random dance party in the middle of the field unannounced.

I could see us getting Feed Me. His new teeth setup is badass. He could come and do a second set under his dnb name of SPOR. He has been doing new spor tracks recently. Ten Walls or Jonas Rathsman for a deep house dj being that the genre is so big right now. Aphrodite for some old school DnB. I doubt everything but Feed Me. I could see Feed Me as the 4/5 edm act.
alright, calm down, we are not getting jack u. i wish, but no i would highly doubt 3/4 skrillex years
I meant Jack U as a long shot thing and the (due to Diplo's insta pic) to be about anything involving Diplo. AC obviously loves Skrillex but its doubtful he's 3/4.

His "throwback thursday" pic last week was from Bonnaroo... Could mean nothing but obviously inforoo was created to blow things like this out of proportion.

He wears suits almost all the time when he's with Major Lazer so I highly doubt it had anything to do with Roo. And I wouldn't be surprised if we see a few deep house names show up strictly because it's becoming the new trend and they try and jump on it before everyone gets blown up and they become unrealistic to book.

When it comes to electronic music (or the lineup in general) when has it ever been Bonnaroo's M.O. to "jump on it before everyone gets blown up?" Bonnaroo tends to go the other way, i.e. wait until something is safely and securely popular.

Touche. I guess that was more wishful thinking on my part. That being said we will probably get a lot of dubstep and cheese haha

I would be very happy if this is how the Electronic lineup shook up plus if they book a rarer act or two like Todd Terje to top it off.
Then your standards are pretty low, and they probably won't.
Oh I forgot, probably/maybe Ratatat.
Deadmau5 Bassnectar Ratatat Flume Odesza some of the bullshit Big G type nonsense Caribout maybe FlyLo or something decent.
The end.
I try to keep my expectations in check for Electronic at Roo. I know they are going to book 8-10 good acts that have wide enough appeal to get the average music fan interested and don't totally suck, but may not be the very best critically either(though FlyLo and Caribou released to of the best albums in the genre last year). I honestly enjoy all of those artist to some extent and know they all have reputation for putting on good live shows. When I see other festivals getting Tiesto, avicii, Steve Aoki, and Krewella at least I know we are going to avoid that level of nonsense.

Just out of curiosity, what do you think the "best albums in the genre" were last year?

Our Love by Caribou and You're Dead! by Fly Lo were what I was referencing. Also, throw in It's Album Time by Todd Terje and Becs by Fennesz though I doubt we get either of those.

I knew which ones you were referencing, I wanted to see what you'd stack them up against. Interesting.

My favorite electronic releases of last year were as follows:
Traumprinz, All The Things Leon Vynehall, Music for the Uninvited Detroit Swindle, Boxed Out Call Super, Suzi Ecto Basement Jaxx, Junto GusGus, Mexico Pittsburgh Track Authority, Enter the Machine Age Jamie xx's three singles Both Percussions EPs Bicep, Circles Objekt, Flatlands Dj Metatron, U'll Be The King Of The Stars
I could go on and on, but those came to the top of my head. I'm sure I'm missing a few really obvious ones.

WAIT A MINUTE! GusGus came out with a new album last year?! I don't know how this escaped me. Arabian Horse is one of my favorite albums ever. I know it's extremely unlikely but they are the act I'd want to see the more on the lineup tonight.
