I used to think roo would never book any metal...I honestly think there's no reason Sunn O))) couldn't be on the lineup....
Just because they book metal doesn't mean they'll book any metal. Bonnaroo plays it pretty safe. Like they're not booking fucking Pig Destroyer and shit. I could see them going for Wolves In The Throne room, who combine more ambient and melodic sounds (or, alternatively, now apparently make shitty electronic records), but I really cannot see them booking a drone metal band who produces sounds which are the musical equivalent of depressed psychosis.
I feel like you people are all out of your goddamn minds.
Whatever. I'm not in the mood to argue with moronic trolls today. I have enough of that going on IRL right now.
I respect that you're open about your role as a moronic troll "IRL," but I fail to see what that has to do with a discussion as to why the drone-metal band Sunn O))) is about as unlikely to ever play Bonnaroo as any active band.

There is no way Bonnaroo ever books Sunn O))). I doubt they would even try, and there's no way the band would accept if they did. They only play niche festivals that cater to the noise and metal crowds, and they've never played an outdoor show. It wouldn't translate at all, too much of the show is tied up in the experience of being in a dark, smoky, vibrating room. No way they could get the acoustics or visuals they want in a tent.
Swans is a poor comparison. They have been touring constantly since My Father Will Guide Me Up a Rope to the Sky, and those dates have included a bunch of festivals and outdoor shows. Sunn O))) plays maybe a few dates per year, sometimes going years at a time without playing US dates.
In short, Sunn O))) is never playing Bonnaroo. You have a better chance of catching the Who with Frankenwhistle on bass and Zombie Moon on drums.

Look at this asshole using facts to back up his statements. What kind of crap is that? You don't know how to disagree with someone at all.

You moronic troll. How dare you.
Awww... You guys are so sweet. But really, I was way too pissed off earlier to even be here posting.
Do I ever realistically see Sunn O))) playing Bonnaroo? No. Do I think that ACE would consider booking them? Yes. It's not outside the realm of possibility. I've never had the opportunity to see them, though I've talked to a couple of people who have, so I don't really know how it would translate to a tent. I do know the only way it would even come close to working is a late night show, but I'm still not sure how it would work.
I don't know anything about this Sunn O ))) you all speak of, but if they play anywhere around here, now I got to see them.
Here's my suggestion. Next time you are driving somewhere late at night, and its dark and there aren't a lot of people on the road, some back road somewhere, make sure to have a copy of Black One handy. Put it on and listen. Embrace the darkness. You are the fear.
