Body Count and Trash Talk (not exactly metal yeah but lets bring hardcore to Bonnaroo!) back to back late night. I'm only half serious...it'd just be very interesting for me at least.
I saw them play in the spring of 2010 with Mastodon, Baroness, and Valient Thorr.
Valient Thorr opened and was insanely awesome and hilarious. Then Baroness just crushed it; this was during their tour in support of Blue Record, when they were just a complete force of nature.
Then BTBAM came on and were just horrible. I mean just awful. The lead singer stood there and played the keys.
But the best part was that all these dudes wearing eyeliner and shit bolted after BTBAM finished, so we could watch Mastodon in peace.

Mastodon has brought all three times I've been lucky enough to see them. No surprise. One time I was surround by twits who came to see Dethklok play after them. It was a joke. People showing up to see a cartoon gimmick.

I like Valient Thorr, but they're not much more than what they are - a goofy biker-metal band. I think my favorite moment of the whole show was when the drummer walked out, in standard issue t-shirt and denim vest, then proceeded to take off the denim vest, take off the shirt, and put the vest back on. Just an absurd sequence of events.
I also caught the MastoKlok tour, but I thought the whole thing was awesome. High On Fire and Converge were the openers, and both were great. Mastodon was doing the whole "Crack The Skye" tour, so it was what it was, but Dethklok were wildly entertaining. The music is actually pretty awesome, and the cartoon visuals that accompany them were really cool. I would absolutely go see Dethklok again.

I don't remember where I had heard Valiant Thor before, someone showed me a couple songs and I just did not like it at all. Didn't know they had a biker/metal thing going on. Guess that makes some sense.
I remember Converge! I had forgotten all about them. They were good. Don't remember High on Fire. Dethklok wasn't really my thing. My brother worked for adultswim at the time and he got us tickets. I went for Mastodon, he went for Dethklok. Brendon Small was a really cool guy though. I love Home Movies.

Also there's no way in hell Sunn 0))) ever plays a festival like Bonnaroo.
what makes you say that?
Maybe "no way in hell" was too strong, since apparently they're playing the fucking Gathering of the Juggaloes.
I know they hit some Euro fests and some of the smaller, niche/noise fests here in the U.S., but I honestly can't picture them taking the stage at Bonnaroo, or any of the major U.S. festivals, for that matter.

And yeah, a fest like ATP is exactly where I could see Sunn O))) playing; a smaller, niche fest which doesn't shy away from noise and oddity. Bonnaroo features metal, but nothing on the level of Sunn O))) (which is barely even metal, let's be honest).
