Sorry if this the wrong sub-board. I didn't really know where to put this.
Anybody bored and want to help me sleuth this? I am seeing a screening of "No Camera's Allowed" this Wednesday at the historic Wiltern theater in LA. It will feature the movie followed by a special surprise concert performance.
Here are the given clues for who the surprise performance is: 1. Surprise set will be acoustic 2. Band is one that is featured in the movie. 3. Band has previously at one point performed to a sold out crowd to the venue (The Wiltern)

Per the trailer, here's a list of bands featured in the movie (it's possible my surprise guest isn't on this list, and may have a smaller role in the movie) Mumford and Sons Phoenix Grouplove Passion Pit Tegan and Sara Band of Horses Coldplay Muse Skrillex Tiesto Young the Giant Creedance Clearwater Revivival Jay-Z Alicia Keys Lykke Li Albatross Johnny Flynn The Filthy Six Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeroes
My best guess is Ed Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeroes, but I can't find any record of them every playing the Wiltern!
Who wants to help me crack this code? I'm so stumped. The show is this Wednesday July 23rd.
Presumably someone from that Mumford tour, like Mumford?
Edit: Although I guess it wouldn't make sense to specifically bill a Mumford show as acoustic.
I'm hoping for Mumford, but not getting my hopes too high. The tickets were only $10 for this shindig, which makes me doubtful that they would come and play a show. Unless they really liked this dude and wanted to support his movie this much.

Oh, the $10 ticket is an important fact. Definitely not Mumford. Edward Sharpe would be my next guess (was on the train tour), but doesn't appear he's played the Wiltern. Old Crow has a show coming up at the Wiltern that isn't sold out.

I'm guessing Tegan & Sara. I Googled them and Wiltern and found a review of a sold-out show by The Killers where they opened. I think they're about the right size/popularity for this to seem plausible. Plus their next scheduled show is Wednesday in Canada.

Maybe: Lykke Li sold out the Wiltern back in 2011, and sometimes performs acoustically Phoenix, nowhere to be for a while, have sold out the Wiltern, and sometimes perform acoustically Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros, nowhere to be for a bit but still active (I can't find mention of a sell out though)
Probably not: Band of Horses is in NY on the 24th Grouplove will be in between a date in Hawaii and Australia Passion Pit probably wouldn't hold up well acoustically and aren't very active currently Muse Young the Giant, have a festival date in Oklahoma shortly after Alicia Keys, would be a surprise for sure Albatross & Johnny Flynn & The Filthy Six, I know nothing about him/them so probably not something that would be hyped up?

This is the same blog that gave the clue that they have sold out the venue before, so I assume they know what they are talking about. Young the Giant played two sold out shows at the venue in 2012 (I guess these KROQ nuts in LA couldn't get enough of "Cough Syrup")
If this is true, then I think its awesome! I saw YTG at Bonnaroo 2012 and enjoyed their set. Plus $10 for a ticket for a movie and a show? I am feeling very good and excited for this.

I do believe there is an actual release in the future. This is a must watch for all Bonnaroovians. Seriously, a lot of goosebump moments. I hope it is released soon, because I'd like to see it again.
Am I the only one that gets a giant "commercial for music festivals" vibe from this movie? Seems like a cool concept and all but the trailer rubbed me the wrong way, not to mention this gigantic promotional push the film is getting. There's some big money behind this. I'd like to see the producer credits whenever this gets an IMDB page. I'm probably being way too cynical.

I didn't get that vibe. There wasn't any overtly shameless plugs for any of the festivals or bands and the story was definitely centered around him and his story about coming of age and the like. I think that the final result is a giant "commercial" for music festivals, only because it does a great job at capturing that hard to explain feeling of magic that we feel time and time again with the festivals we go to. I think this movie will definitely inspire more people to go to festivals that maybe weren't thinking about it before, but I don't see as a commercialized plug for the industry.
