He's all: "Look, I know I pooped on the kitchen floor the morning we left on this vacation...but, I was excited, okay? Just because of that you are going to give me to this giant troll so he can eat me!? That's f°cked up. Oh, and you need a picture to commemorate the occasion? If I live through this, I am SO barfing on your pillow tonight."
Every year I say "Next year we're stopping there" and we still haven't done it.
This x 20 years for me!
I'm always either on my way to somewhere like a festival or camping, "There's no time! MUST GET TO ROO/CAMP SITE WHILE IT'S STILL DAYLIGHT!!" Or I'm coming home from a festival/camping trip and I'm just to spent to stop. Every year in both directions I say to myself "I really need to see Rock City."
I might really make an effort to see it this year...I swear.
Total tourist trap. Srsly, it's not worth your time unless:
A) you've never been on a mountain that has pretty views; B) you want to enrage the locals when you block traffic by driving 20mph up the mountain; C) you're a huge Neil Gaiman fan & want to see it because it was the location of a pivotal scene in American Gods; or D) you're jonesin' for some elf-gropin' action & can't get that kind of action outside of, say, DragonCon.
That said, if you must choose between the many tourist traps on Lookout Mtn, pick this one over the cheese-tastic, it-only-looks-real-'cause-they-pump-the-water Ruby Falls. You definitely won't get groped at the latter.

Agreed. Ruby Falls is a wank fest. Most of the formations are taken from other caves and stuck into that cave with bubblegum. Then you get to look at a spigot of water in multicolor for 2 minutes then you get kicked tf out. Rock City is at least cool for walking through all the rock walls and getting creeped out by a cavern of fairytale horror statues. (Don't try to convince me otherwise, that place was made of nightmares).
