Whether it's your first Bonnaroo or you’re a music festival veteran, we welcome you to Inforoo.
Here you'll find info about artists, rumors, camping tips, and the infamous Roo Clues. Have a look around then create an account and join in the fun. See you at Bonnaroo!!
I still highly doubt that is the main reason that there is an issue with the account, but I will duly note that members' ability to insult Bonnaroo and/or Ashley Capps is something that is right on the edge of being forbidden.
Dave Maynar , speculate away as to what our motives are. This topic has been discussed ad nauseaum with juggs > before we allowed it the first time > during its use > when we decided to pull the plug and the reasons for doing so.
Yes, "I will duly note that members' ability to insult Bonnaroo and/or Ashley Capps is something that is right on the edge of being forbidden" that is a good idea. As it fits perfectly with the stated board guidelines:
"No flaming, obscenity, or otherwise being rude. Treat people the way you would want to be treated. Just because it's the internet does not give anyone the excuse to insult other members. We'd like to keep the spirit of Bonnaroo intact on this message board."
I want to let this go, I really do. But I can't. I just need to figure out how else I can go about getting my point across first. Because the concept that the majority of the board is behind this has to have some impact. Maybe? Possibly?
I do have a question though. Hasn't Inforoo become way more than about Bonnaroo? I get ALL of my festival information from here. Be it Shaky Knees, Newport Folk Festival, even Coachella. So can't we cut the spirit of Bonnaroo crap out? I mean that sincerely. I'm not trying to be a jerk here.

Those words were written years ago. At this point it's about "the spirit of music festivals and our community" but it just happens to still say Bonnaroo on that rules post. Don't let the specific wording piss you off. I'm open to a re-write/update if you'd like.

I'm not pissed about the words. It's the feeling that we have to treat Bonnaroo with kid gloves that doesn't sit right. Hell, the Hangout people should be rioting about the grief they get. And the Firefly folks. And so on. That's how it goes. Unless Ashley Capps himself, or someone from AC/Superfly/whoever controls Bonnaroo reaches out about the parody acct, I still don't see the issue with it. But that's me.

custeph, I know you are not being a jerk, I know you. :-) To answer your questions directly:
"Because the concept that the majority of the board is behind this has to have some impact. Maybe? Possibly?"
Yes, that was taken into consideration the first time we allowed it to happen. We discussed it in depth. We all had our various concerns but allowed it anyway. Turns out our concerns were validated and the account was disallowed.
" Hasn't Inforoo become way more than about Bonnaroo?" and "So can't we cut the spirit of Bonnaroo crap out?"
I understand what you are saying. Yes, we have branched out quite bit from the original premise of this being a "Bonnaroo board". I can remember "the spirit of Bonnaroo" being discussed as far back as I can remember. Way before the Radiate Positivity stuff. I think it still holds true, at least for me, the idea that people from all walks of life can get together for a few days and enjoy music is the spirit of Bonnaroo we are talking about. That is what it always was to me, still is.

We aren't letting Juggs have a second account. That's all. Who is saying to treat Bonnaroo with kid gloves? We allowed him to post his rants under his own name. We allowed him to post it under the second account before pulling the plug. We've now suggested that he post his rants under his own account. That's the total OPPOSITE of treating Bonnaroo with kid gloves. We've allowed him and many others to treat this year's Bonnaroo lineup like the shit that it is without telling any people to stop/shut up. If anything I'd say Bonnaroo gets shit on just as much if not more than a lot of the other festivals discussed on here.
Usually compromise (the word you use) involves two sides giving up something in order to where both parties are at least partially satisfied. I don't really see anything in your statement that the mods gave up in order to bring about a solution to the issue aside from allowing Larry Farnsworth to post under his own account. Not really much of a compromise.
Here is the compromise. Our main issue with the account has been the use of said account to insult the festival we love, and the man behind it. We are setting that aside and allowing him to take full swing.
I understand your desire to protect these things you hold in high regard and I respect that completely. You are trying to moderate an unwieldy and fast moving forum. Having said that, his posts are 100% satirical in nature and I cannot see where they are actually hurting anything. Saturday Night Live has effectively used satire for decades, frequently in relation to our POTUS, not to mention countless other public figures. People have clearly been able to discern the fact that they are being humorous, just like the big capp dogg.

Please free the Big Capp Dogg!
Yeah, but Saturday Night Live is not relentlessly negative.

Maybe I'll get in trouble for this, but with the ~85% vote percentage we totally have the numbers for an inforoo constitutional convention type thing to bring back the big capped dogg
Really what this comes down to is the Mods squashing a board-wide welcomed satirical account and refusing to create an exception to the rules for that one purpose. It's the classic "slippery slope" argument that hardass republicans constantly use to fight abortion and gay marriage.
"Yeah, but then everyone will want to have a second account."
No. With the same ability that you can stubbornly prevent anyone from having a second account, you can make one exception for an overwhelmingly supported satire account and let the rule continue to apply for everyone else. You're the mods. You can do whatever you want. And right now you're choosing to be stubborn hardasses. Congrats! I hope you feel righteous!

Mindless bookings, consistent price increases, and horrible concert etiquette are ruining "The Spirit of Bonnaroo"/music festivals on an increasingly annual basis without the help of The BCD. A little comedic relief is all we are asking for. This lineup sucks, its currently bad not only for Bonnaroo standards but also compared to fest across the world. We are lucky with our headliners, Bonnaroo is just one The Weeknd away from an overall washout top to bottom. If LiveNation had a presence this year, I dont see it at the moment. We need a voice for our frustrations, and I need a laugh on a Monday.
Comparing the current state of Bonnaroo now vs. the past Bonnaroo in which this forum was made to represent is like the argument that our forefathers totally ment armor piercing rifles and munitions for the public in The Constitution. How can those who have been around since the jam not laugh at what their festival has become? Who else can articulate why and how our beloved music festival has turned into Made In America: The Sleepover Version sprinkled with Blue Grass.
Just update the board guidelines surrounding duplicate accounts to say something on the lines of duplicate accounts will only be allowed with pre-approval from a majority of the mods, and then include a list of the "approved duplicate" accounts and their names so that everyone is aware of them.
Considering you've found the need to respond to my threads as if you are threatened by me I offer you some peace my confused counterpart. May you find peace in your restless soul.
maybe i'm missing something but why doesn't the original thebigcappdogg just make another account? like without the the.
It might have happened several times, and it might be that on each occurrence, the new account received an IP ban. Might be that the kindhearted jester behind the Big Capp Dogg doesn't want to run out of places to post from because every location in his or her life has been IP banned.
You know what, I'm going to edit the OP to contain every notable post made by EL Cappo to date. Maybe this will help people who were not a part of this community at the time to relive, and understand what The Big Capp Dogg was all about.
I didn't even know about @capplion. Are those posts deleted?
