Hello I am doing a group speech about Bonnaroo in my class. I would love to have quotes from others who have gone to Bonnaroo. 1) What makes Bonnaroo better than the other festivals you have been to? 2) What is one of your favorite Bonnaroo moment? 3) What are some negative things about Bonnaroo?
I've never been to another festival, so I can't speak to #1. I will say that everyone is so happy to be there you can feel it, "radiate positivity" is the best motto for Bonnaroo, because it's real.
2) my favorite moment from last year was Vampire Weekend's set. It was at sunset, the temperature was awesome and there was a lovely breeze blowing. Pair all that with the music and it was a perfect moment.
3) negative? Hmmm. Some people get a little too inebriated for their own good, and can be kinda jerky. And theft can be a problem. I've seen a few people here and on Reddit blame that on "bros" and the "dubstep crowd" but my group caught some dudes rummaging through people's stuff, and they were definitely not Roo attendees. They either bought tickets to come in and pillage or they snuck in. I don't even think they had on wrist bands. We locked our tents when we left, and put anything of value in our cars and locked them, so theft wasn't a problem for us.

1) It's the best festival I've been to because most of the people there have traveled a significant distance to get there. So you don't get a lot of people who pop in because they were in the area and had nothing better to do. You get people who love live music and and have a certain reverence for this festival. You immediately have something in common. It's very easy to make friends whom you get to see once a year when you return.
2) Thank you for making this "one of your favorite" moments instead of asking me to come up with a single favorite. I love it when musicians you don't expect come out and play. There was a SuperJam a couple years ago with John Oates and Jim James and a bunch of other wonderful musicians that were announced. But then they were also joined at various times by R. Kelly, Billy Idol, and Brittany Howard. Brittany even made a return appearance with the next act, Bustle In Your Hedgerow." I saw amazing musicians who will probably never play together again and it was glorious.
3) It's hot and dusty. People don't account for the conditions and get so high and/or drunk they get really sick. Sometimes they die.
